What Goes Up

Must come down.

IMG_2440

We’re dropping rain from the sky this morning. But in exchange for a rain-free wedding weekend, I’ll get my toes wet today.

I went from insomnia to accidental oversleeping today. All I had time for was a bowl of cereal and lots of fresh berries. Fortunately I might have chosen this breakfast anyways it was so good!

IMG_2441

Honey Bunches and Morning Ohs (the last of each) with blueberries and blackberries, milk and sunbutter.

IMG_2439

Happy Monday! I’m so confused what week it is I’ve been traveling so much. But I’m home for a month now!

Logistics question out of curiosity: when you put a nut butter with a bowl of cereal or yogurt, do you mix it in to the milk/yogurt? Does it taste good like that? Random question, I know 🙂

Yum, I’m loving blackberries right now too! I just had a whole bunch in a smoothie this morning… and I don’t even know how many were consumed in the smoothie making process straight out of the container! Enjoy being back at home. I love traveling but it’s always nice to come back to your own bed!

    Hi, Kath!

I’m a relatively new follower, but you (and my blood test results) have inspired me to buy some chia seeds. I tried them for the first time this morning – I put some in my cereal. The texture that was created, however…not so good. Any suggestions? I’d like to get them into my diet, but would definitely prefer if they didn’t get all slimy on the outside by the time they reach my mouth. I was thinking maybe yogurt…

Unfortunately that’s the nature of chia seeds – and the very reason why I love them!! I love the slime. If you put them in a smoothie they would be ground up better and you probably wouldn’t notice the slime

If you can get over the chia texture, I love the slime too, try hempseeds.

I notice the texture in smoothies and cereal (although I like it), but I do NOT notice it at all when I put chia seeds into oatmeal. Try that way.

    Hi Kath!

I have been dying to try this breakfast but struggle with proportions and feeling like I have gotten enough of my needed nutrients.

When your make your unreliable looking cereal breakfasts, how much of each ingredient do you use?

I know weird question but been dying to know!

I don’t actually measure anything…and my needs right now are probably different than yours! I’d go with 1 to 1.5 cups of a whole grain cereal with a real food ingredient list and then 1 cup of milk, 1/2-1 cup fruit and a little fat in the form of nut butter, nuts, seeds, etc.

At first I thought you just had a bowl of berries in milk there! I’ve been so into cereal lately. For the longest time, my breakfast was usually greek yogurt with cereal or oats mixed in, but for the past couple of months, I’ve only wanted cereal in milk (with sliced bananas, of course!) every morning. So strange…I’m going through cereal like a machine!

Looking at your bowl from the top, it looks so big. Then the side view it looks small. I need a small bowl for cereal. I use a Pho sized bowl. I measure the cereal and milk, but think that I need a smaller bowl to feel like I am eating alot.
