Weekend Of Birthday Cheer

My birthday weekend came and went so fast! But I had a lot of fun, and got in some buttercream and bourbon!

Foodblog-1644

I woke up to a lovely bouquet of flowers and a wonderful gift from Mazen, Matt and Karen for a few spa treatments!! A perfect gift for a mama who needs a little pampering. I ate scrambled eggs, half a banana and some toast, most of which I shared with Mazen so I could save room for a scone at the market.

Foodblog-1553

Unfortunately Matt had to work most of the day, but I filled my morning with a trip to the gym (more for alone time with Better Homes & Gardens than any kind of hard workout!) and then a visit to the city market where I met blog reader Katie and her son Henry.

Foodblog-095552

Katie insisted on buying me my birthday breakfast, so we both enjoyed some scones. Chocolate chip!

Foodblog-095529

We took the boys to a nearby park to play and then M and I headed home for lunch and nap.

Foodblog-095533

M took a TWO hour nap, which was awesome, and I watched Nashville and had lunch.

A No Bull Burger with cheese over a salad

Foodblog-1558

And some baked apples topped with the last of my toasted marshmallow ice cream!

Foodblog-1561

In the afternoon we stopped into the mall where I exchanged a shirt and bought 3 more in its place – for the same price! Killer sales at the GAP yesterday. We also went by Great Harvest to visit Matt and then made our way to Linden’s First Birthday!

Foodblog-1568Foodblog-1564

Rosie and Kevin did a beautiful job with the food and decor

Foodblog-1566

This Skinny Taste pumpkin dip was the hit of the party!

Happy Birthday Linden! {Her actual b-day was a few days ago – too bad we don’t share 10.26!}

Foodblog-1588Foodblog-1591

She was so dainty eating her cupcake

Foodblog-1618Foodblog-1621

I didn’t have time to get over to Sweethaus for my birthday buttercream this year, so I was super excited to see that’s what Rosie picked out for Linden! The pumpkin cupcake with salted caramel frosting was everything I’ve ever dreamed of.

Foodblog-1624

The kiddos had a great time playing around. Kevin made the play kitchen himself!

And I got some sweet photos with Maze to remember my 31st birthday

Finally, after putting M to bed and leaving him under Karen’s watch, Matt and I went to Al Dente to enjoy a few Italian appetizers and birthday Manhattens. The mussels were to die for!

Foodblog-6

On Sunday we had our final soccer game of the season, and then we wrapped up the weekend with a party at Mas for the City Schoolyard Garden and its business allies {we donate bread for some of their events}.

Thanks for all the Insta/Twitter/KERF birthday wishes!!

Is the vest from this year? It’s so cute and I can’t find it on the Gap website! Not sure if I should try going to the store or if it’s old.

Sounds like a pretty good, low-key birthday! My birthday is this Wednesday and I actually have zero plans on my actually birthday! Everyone is really busy that day, but luckily I’ll be going out with my friends for Halloween the next night and then having a wine tasting party at my place on Saturday! I like to spread out the celebration…

I was wondering if you would have any little words of advice or ideas about what brings readers to your posts–every day, no less! Thanks 🙂

Hi June, thanks so much. I’m not really sure! I usually tell people to emphasize photos, as they are often more interesting than words alone. I like to think my consistency over the course of 6 years has also been helpful. And perhaps that I strive for an optimistic, cheerful attitude. I hope this space is a fun place to visit.
