Weekend.

Before and after the shower we filled our weekend with lots of fun. Matt A’s family was visiting and my Matt’s dad and his wife came to visit as well!

Foodblog-5359

On Friday night we planned an epic cookout

Foodblog-5357

I prepped the fruit salad

Foodblog-5352

And enjoyed a Cheerwine. My parents’ house is one of the few places I drink diet sodas guilt free. They have every flavor imaginable!

Foodblog-5354

But an hour after these photos were taken, it stormed like crazy. We were forced to pretend it was Christmas dinner in the dining room instead

Foodblog-5356

Foodblog-5386

Burgers + salads + chips

Foodblog-5389

Saturday was chilly but sunny

Egg, fruit, banana bread made by Candace!

Foodblog-5390

Mimi and Papa came over for a morning with Mazen

Foodblog-5393Foodblog-5394

After the shower, we all headed to Durham for drinks and Matt’s soccer game

Foodblog-5431

Cheerios!

Foodblog-5429

I enjoyed an arugula salad

Foodblog-5432

The soccer game was great – Matt A. scored a PK and had an assist! Go Duke! [They won against UNC]

Foodblog-5439

Mazen Duke liked his first sporting event

Foodblog-5446

And snuggled in with Aunt Larbs when it got chilly

Foodblog-5450

On Sunday we did more playing, ate a fantastic brunch

Foodblog-5459

and drove back to Charlottesville to see daddy!

Going home is the best feeling. I like that you don’t deprive yourself of diet soda 100 percent when you want one…that’s sort of my idea of eating: nothing is ever off-limits completely but some things need more moderation than others!

I’m dying of envy over the flowing trees!! We’re several weeks late on everything and I can’t wait until the shrubs and trees are in bloom. The smell is so fabulous – it’s one of my favorite times of the year.

Mazen certainly gets a lot of love. I so enjoy all the family shots. It’s clear he’s adored. What a cutie! 🙂

I love making a big batch of fruit salad and having it for breakfast for a few mornings- so easy! That bread also reminds me that I need to make a batch of banana bread with my sad bananas soon 🙂 I’m glad you had such a great weekend!

Are you concerned about the salt and sugar in Cheerios? Nestlé’s name brand cheerios has 190 mg of sodium per serving (if I remember correctly) Or is this a “Kleenex/tissue” type thing and sweet Mazen is having some healthy organic “oh” type cereal. I thought babies under the age of one shouldn’t have any sodium at all..

I am probably driving you crazy with my label reading LOL, but it is the on’y way I can keep my family eating clean with as little processed sugar as possible and helping my prone to high BP husband keep to his healthier low salt diet.

    The red door is fab…

I’m not really that concerned. While I won’t be sprinkling salt on Mazen’s food any time soon nor would I feed him very high sodium foods like canned soup or soy sauce, I’m not worried about the smaller amounts of sodium in food, especially since the majority of his diet is based on whole foods that I have made myself.
