Water, Water Everywhere

Hello from Bald Head Island where there is water all around us and water falling from the sky!

IMG_7335

My parents are owners of a suite at the inn, and Mazen and I joined them for a long weekend.

IMG_7327

Matt opted to stay home, but he won’t be lonely, as there is lots going on for the Tom Tom Fest in Cville this weekend. I’m sort of sad I’m missing all the excitement! But we are here happily taking in the sea air and living on island time.

IMG_7329

We arrived on the 5 o’clock ferry, settled in, and then hopped in a golf car to go to the club for dinner.

IMG_7337

White Plum sent me a few pieces for spring, and I wore the Frankie Striped Cardigan to dinner. It’s the perfect soft, cozy wrap to keep the chill of the ocean breeze off on a spring evening : )

And for you guys – use KATHEATS25 for 25% off your entire White Plum purchase until 4/25!

IMG_7346

Glass of old vine zin – don’t mind if I do!

IMG_7349

We had baked oysters to share as an appetizer

IMG_7355

And I had fish and chips plus a side salad for my main meal. I brought the second piece of fish home, and hope to eat it for lunch this week.

My parents have been talking about grandchildren sleeping in the bunk rooms here at the inn for YEARS, and their dream came true when Mazen transitioned to a big boy bed. He was a little timid at first until I reminded him that Peppa and Georgie sleep in bunk beds and then he was super excited. Note Peppa in the top bunk!

IMG_7332

This morning I went on a run before breakfast. I have a love/hate with first-thing-in-the-morning exercise.  I always wake up hungry and want to eat first thing, but if I have a little snack (this time half a piece of toast) I am always so happy afterwards. I covered 5 miles around the island, and I luckily beat most of the rain. My goal is to get 10,000 steps every day I’m here, which might be hard if the sun doesn’t come out soon!

Breakfast was cinnamon raisin bread toast from the bakery with almond butter from home plus lots of fresh fruit. Delicious grapefruit!

Have a great weekend!

Mazen is so cute in that bed picture! Such a sweet boy – loved your tactic using the pigs as an example – what a smart momma. Too bad Matt didn’t go, but it is nice to get some one-on-one time with your parents once in awhile. Have a lovely weekend!

5 miles while on a trip is truly impressive! I usually just take a walk after the huge family dinner and call that good! 🙂

I hate to sound like a derp, but you’re taking fish home to eat next week? Aren’t you afraid it will go bad by then?

Is the suite a new purchase for your parents? I know that you have been family vacationing there for years but didn’t realize it was ownership. I am intrigued because this week we just bought a house in a beach town we have been vacationing in for 20 years. Our granddaughter is just as excited at getting to sleep in the bunk room! Looking forward to many, many family vacations there as I’m sure your family is.

No, they’ve had it for a while. It’s a fractional ownership, so it’s similar to a timeshare.
