Warrior Lunch

I’ve been busy at home today – back-2-back conference calls (including an interview with our local paper) and a little meal prep for tonight –

IMG_5440-2Blog

Plus the usual blogging chores!

Breakfast, although eaten late, kept me full for hours. I still wasn’t terribly hungry as of 1:30pm but I had to eat so I could get to the bakery!

IMG_5443-2BlogIMG_5445-2Blog

I pulled together a salad – greens, peppers, cuc, tomatoes, beans topped with coconut oil (yum!), honey, salt, manchego cheese and pecans

IMG_5444-2Blog

Probably gonna need a snack this afternoon – that’s something to get hungry about!

Warrior Crunch

Today’s OpenSky deal is more than just some delicious granola – all purchases go towards helping blogger Susan, who writes The Great Balancing Act. Susan was diagnosed with Lymphoma this summer and is in need of financial support to help pay for her treatments.

Nuts About Granola owner Sarah has a new flavor, Warrior Crunch, that she created with the intent of having a portion of the proceeds go directly to cancer research with Cancer Warriors. As a supporter and friend of the healthy living blog community, Sarah was able to get Cancer Warriors to agree to have all of the money raised in sales of this granola go directly to Susan’s recovery and treatment.

The Chocolate Cherry flavored granola has bits of little chocolate chips, tart cherries, a warm hint of cinnamon and nutmeg and (my personal favorite) – puffed millet. It’s a bit crunchy, a bit chewy and full of love.

Let’s all go nuts about Warrior Crunch and help a friend in need. Two bags for $12!

I’m super excited for that granola to come actually (and trying to distract myself from the fact that you hinted last night that Groovy Granola may potentially be up for grabs at some point!!)

That salad looks amazing – pecans were such a nice choice. I love them in salads (especially candied!) and definitely don’t do it enough.

Have a great rest of the afternoon 🙂

Hey! Wondering if you know, or can find out, how much is “a portion of the proceeds”? I’ve been meaning to donate and haven’t yet so I’m considering this deal but would like to know how much of my money will go to Susan. Thanks!

ALL of the proceeds go to Susan – but I’m not sure what the cost of the granola is to know an exact number. Neither me nor OpenSky or Sarah are making a profit on this.

What a great way to help someone in need! That is what we were put on this earth for.

I am sure it is difficult dealing mentally, physically and emotionally with the Lymphoma, let alone financially. To have financial support makes the load a little lighter!

do you just drizzle the honey on top, or did you mix it with the coconut oil before hand? I feel like honey is so thick it wouldn’t mix over the salad well!

I just drizzle. I do it high above so it covers the whole top of the salad. I don’t need it to cover every leaf underneath – I like the taste of lettuce!

I just ordered my granola and I can’t wait…cherry & chocolate are one of my favorite combos. More importantly, I understand what an important cause this is going to. My father passed away from cancer this year, and anything that can be done to fight this disease makes me feel more at peace. Thank you for helping to fight cancer!
