Two Thousand-n-Nine Times Delicious

It’s quite a miracle that I do not feel the effects of last night’s four drinks! Guess it was spreading them out over time and having some snacks with ’em. I am very thankful!!

We went to bed at 1:45am and got up around 9. The husband brought home some Great Harvest Whole Wheat Pancake Mix (freshly ground flour from wheatberries!) and offered to make me banana pancakes while I did a quick session of Hatha yoga. He’s the best!

And the pancakes turned out divine…

Topped with a dab of Barney Butter and some coconut butter shavings on each cake –

A side serving of digital camera syrup –

And a cup of chandelier coffee – World Market’s Texas Turtle blend – mmmmmm!

 DSC07912

I took my pancakes on a tray into the TV room so we could watch our favorite show – Arrested Development – with breakfast. We missed it during our vacation!! We just finished Season II this morning and have only one to go 😥

I cleaned the kitchen well after breakfast and washed the floors. We still have more present unpacking to do from that big box I hid away the other night.

I was planning to go to CardioFunk today at 1pm but we might go for a long bike ride instead. Undecided!

I also MUST go grocery shopping today!

Happy oh-nine to you all! I can’t believe it’s the year before I will earn my R.D.!! Time is flying!

    I had pancakes too!

Oh, you make me miss Arrested Development! I’m so sad that its not on anymore. Will Arnett was on Sesame Street the other day as a magician, which of course was cracking me up and reminding me of when Job was a magician! He and Tobias made that show. We might have to pull out the DVDs tonight for a marathon!

    Have a great day!

Not sure if it was season 2 or 3, but whenever you get to the one with the Japanese investors, know that I think the mole scene is the funniest moment in television history. I know that’s a big statement, but so true.

    Happy New Year!

    hey kath,
i know you aren’t an RD (yet! soon!) but i was hoping you could answer this question again:
as a new years resolution, i’ve started food diarying again and realize that i am eating too few calories — i’m not sure how this happened? maybe my attempts to “be good” went overboard!
i want to increase (and increase protein intake too) but not sure if it is a good idea to add all the extra calories right away or do so gradually?
also, could you explain the whole “eating back your exercise” calories again? is that what you did when you were trying to lose weight? (i know you explained it in the FAQ, but i was a bit confused)…

    smilesara ,
Without knowing the amount of calories you are currently eating, your exercise levels + lifestyle and your weight, etc. to determine your true needs, I really can’t give a good response. But if you are truly undereating, then you should start eating the correct amount for your body immediately – there’s no reason to slowly increase because you NEED that fuel. Sorry I can’t give any specifics.

As for NET calories, the premise is:

Calories to maintain without exercise – 300-500 stopping at 1200 = NET

NET + Exercise = How many to eat per day.

Because exercise calories burned changes so much each day, some days you might need a lot more (running 10 miles) and some days a lot less (walking for 30 minutes) so it allows your intake to adjust to your activity level for that day. It’s a good weight loss approach for those who are very active because it ensures you are eating enough to fuel your basal metabolism and part of your workouts but still at a 300-500 kcal defect at the end of the day. Make sense?

    Kath

How cool? We eat our pancakes with the syrup on the side, too!

The pancakes look super yummy. If I ever make it to Great Harvest, I will have to pick some of that mix up.
