I implemented my “finish a project before the day starts” agenda today by working on my Management Continuum in bed first thing. I worked on it for 2 hours last night in the guest room (= coziest room in the house and new location) and then finished it in another 1.5 hours this morning. Feels gooooood!
After 4 hours hunch over an Excel spreadsheet, I NEEDED yoga. Yoga is the perfect example of an exercise I do because I like the way it makes me feel (verses any kind of obligation). Also in the feel category: running, walking, hiking, swimming and the stepmill (for the sweat!) Other exercises may not feel good during, but they you almost always feel good after.
I did a new YogaDownload today: Dave Farmer’s Sun Salutations. LOVED it. Well, actually, at first I didn’t like his style. Too much talking and explaining! But I realized that while he was talking we were holding the poses for a long time, which tired me out more than usual. Then we did a super fast flow right in the middle, which I loved because I really felt the burn. it was one of the most challenging classes I’ve done because of the duration and pace of the poses. I’m going to try his 60 minute class soon. I know he’s also got a bunch of free podcasts, but when I checked them out they were really just him teaching an in-person class and it was hard to hear. I like for the instructor to be talking to ME!
I couldn’t wait to have this bowl when I finished! Nut butter and all 😉

Beautiful breakfast as always…and sounds like a productive morning. Have a great rest of the day!
Oh wow, I’m just getting started on my work for the day!
When I added the strawberries to my oats this morning, I watched how it changed the cooking process and texture. You’re turning us all into food chemistry nerds!
Great shots of the oats today. Make sure you submit those to you know what 🙂
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
Yay for getting your project done!
Have a great day!
I agree yoga is great for refreshing your mind!
Congratulations on finishing your project! I bet the yoga was so relaxing after all that work.
Oooo good call on the Mango in the oats! I’ve got one sitting on my counter right now…perhaps a nice addition tomorrow?? 🙂
Congrats, also.. a delicious plate as always.
I’m intrigued by the coconut butter. I’ve never seen this, what does it taste like?

Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday says
I have loaded a couple of Dave Farmar podcasts onto my ipod but have not tried any of them yet. I listened to one of the free ones and was also turned off by the feeling that he was teaching another class. I am glad you ended up liking it, lets hope I do too!
GORGEOUS bowl of oats this morning!
Great job finishing up your first project! Have a great day and enjoy checking the rest of the items off your list.

I am starting to love yoga after I have been sitting and doing homework/studying…it is so relaxing and really clears your mind.
I need mango in my life again!
Melissa (fitnessnyc) says
drooling like a maniac! I feel the same way about core fusion (the dvd and the class) as you do about yoga. I love how it feels during and after.
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
You likah the mango? We had mango overload at our house last night. Wait, there’s no such thing.
I love yoga. And I’m so happy to see that you do too. I remember you having a tough time with it in the past, am I right? Enjoy 🙂
I see “Palm Oil Research” on your to-do list. Let us know what you find. It’s one of those ingredients that I’m unsure about–is it good or bad fat?
Kailey (SnackFace) says
I really wish I were as organized as you are! It’s incredible how much you get finished. Mmm the tropical oats with mango, banana AND coconut sounds fantastic right now! I’m interested to see how bad palm oil is. All I’ve heard is that it’s killing rainforests. Who knows, though!
What a fabulous breakfast bowl!!!
how do u keep on top if it all?? i feel overwhelmed just being a college student that lives at home. I do not have to buy anything, clean anything, or even cook most things. I feel stressed to the max with these few things, but you have a husband, house to clean, and mortgage to pay. Does it ever get too stress for you where you want to just throw in the towel and go back to your old job???
~ By the way, the oats look absolutely delicious this morning… you are great at creating new combination’s for the amazing breakfast food… OATMEAL!! 🙂
Those oats look great today!
Good job on being so productive!
Kori (All Things B.) says
Kath- Your early morning motivation is so inspiring! I need to start keeping my laptop by the bed and try out your method!
Good luck with the Palm Oil research- you prob already know about this site- but just in case-
great info about the efforts for sustainable Palm Oil. Good Luck!
Michelle Hisae says
I agree – at first, I didn’t like Dave Farmer. He was really loud, talked too much, and the sound quality of the podcasts are really off. The wind was really loud because it was recorded outside!
Do you know of ones that are in an inside setting? I like his flow and poses, but I need a better resource for classes.
Love the bowl!
I know you’ve been busy with school work but I was just wondering how Bethenny’s book is? Are you still enjoying it?
Shannon (The Daily Balance) says
#1 such a cute bowl!
#2 even better oats! I AM SO JEALOUS! You have such an incredible ability of making the best looking (and most likely tasting) oats I have ever seen.
have a great day 😉
Yay for productivity! Such a good feeling when you can cross something off your list.
Oh and that breakfast looks lovely, per usual 🙂
Meghan at Making Love In The Kitchen says
Homework in bed? That is serious dedication.
Mango + coconut. Brilliant.
Sounds like you got a good start on things this morning!
Thanks for the review of the yoga download. I’m adding it to my list of one I want to try!
Adorable bowl btw!
Great job on finishing your paper! Wahoo!
You are really getting your to do list done today!
Mango + oats = brilliant combo!
Congrats on being done!!
Ange C. says
Oh..i will be so interested in yur palm oil research. It’s one of those iffy ingredients i am unsure of. Looking forward to hearing about it!
lol, I just realized that I misread- it didn’t say coconut butter. oops!
*puts on glasses*
Loved your oats! Almond butter takes the cake…or the oats! 🙂
Congrats on getting your project done! It fells like you can’t really stop this time of the semester because you fall so far behind! Yoga is a feel good exercise. So is walking – especially outside! And my elliptial is your stepmill!!
I wasn’t too familiar with the online yoga videos. Do you just pay for them as you go, and watch the instructor on the computer monitor as you follow along?
Bowl looks great today!
Good luck with the list 🙂
I love that sun salutations download. Kicks my butt every time.
4 hours of excel.. My head would start to hurt after the first hour. Thank goodness for yoga!

Hello, just wanted to say that your meals always look so appetizing and pretty the way you set them out. I’ve been reading for a while – finally figured out this comment thing and started a blog of my own. ^.^
Coconut is one of my favourite oat additions 😀 And pairs excellently with the mango.
You’re so productive today! I was cracking up at the “working in the guest room” part- sometimes I just have to move around when I study, too. Good luck with the rest of your to-dos!
It’s like coconut flavored candle wax shavings. Great taste, but not worth buying, IMO.
Mara @ What’s For Dinner,
Power Yoga #3 for beginners. Or Gentle Hatha I or II for relaxation.
I never want to go back to my old job!
I am stressed constantly, but I stay on top of it by being super organized (todoist.com) and by not procrastinating.
His YogaDownload ones are indoors and professional.
Haven’t had time to read it!
They are audio yoga sessions, so you look at a pose guide and then just listen. Try one of the free 20 minute ones out. Just create an account and download it to your computer or iPod.
Those oats look awesome. I love the combination of flavors.
