Too Many Anniversaries!

We celebrated last weekend, Monday is our official anniversary, and today’s our day-of-the-week anniversary!

As you probably know, I’m a huge weather person. I was shocked to wake up on our wedding day to have my dad announced that there was a hurricane (turned tropical storm) headed our way (I had no idea there was even a storm brewing in the Caribbean). Luckily the rain held off until late that night, but we had horrible cloud cover all day and no direct sunshine. BUT this year, same day, the weather is worse! Cloud cover with no sun and strong storms expected. So I think this will help me with wedding day closure – knowing for real that it could have been worse.

Maran was due at 8 a.m. for our farmer’s market trip so I set my alarm and had a bowl of oatmeal before I left with banana, wheatberries, granola, flax, vanilla, a few blueberries and PB.

I just had water with breakfast, which is very refreshing! I don’t feel that well this morning – kind of achy and headachy. I bet it’s from the coffee withdrawal. I might have a cup of green tea when I come back from my run for a small bit of caffeine so I don’t spend this whole Saturday feeling bad!

When Maran arrived, there was a ROACH on our doorstep!! He was on his back, wiggling around. We’re not sure if he had some poison or not, but he’s gone now. But what a way to greet a guest!!

The farmer’s market was fun. I got a bag of peaches, basil, zucchini + squash and a cucumber.

I had 2 small herb cookies while I was there – free samples! They were tiny, crisp and buttery with an herb scent. Lovely.

Last night the husband and I split a molasses cookie I got from Trader Joe’s. It was really good and chewy but gone way too fast:

Off to go on a run!

You’re killing me with all these posts about wheat berries! I’ve had absolutely zero luck finding these at the store 🙁

Those molasses chews look very yummy!

Hope the weather clears up soon!

    Ahh, hurricane alerts?? Crazy weather.

Yikes, another roach?? Don’t let that one get into the house/the shower!!

Hey Kath! Don’t worry about coffee withdrawal — I know it’s rough, but your body will adjust to the caffeine in the tea and bounce back fast. Trust me, give it a few weeks, and you’ll feel so much better!

Have fun at the movie! My husband would have gone with me if his sister didn’t. He watches reruns with me all the time. I didn’t love the movie, but many people seem to. As far as the microphones showing, I thought it was just our theatre since they had lots of problems with sound, also. I still have a headache since going from not being able to hear anything, to having to plug our ears to hear! But yes, the microphones do show and it’s quite distracting!

Also, Kath, did you see that Trader Joe’s had Goddess Dressing? I saw it yesterday and I would imagine it would much cheaper than Annies. I don’t care for it much, but maybe you can try it.

I just got back Trader Joe’s, and I didn’t see those molasses cookies. They look so good!

Has anyone tried the frozen Mochi? They’re delicious! They’re bon-bons are good too. I know these are not foods I should be encouraging everyone to eat – but just one as a small dessert is perfect. Everything in moderation, right? And it’s not wise to deny yourself what you crave – otherwise you’ll binge.

Don’t worry Kath – the weather here in NJ sucks too. Overcast and HUMID. YUCK!

Oatmeal, I had trouble finding them the first time too. I asked someone at the store about them and they told me they may also be labeled “hard red berries” on the food bin in the bulk food store. I hope this helps.

I went to the farmers market this morning..apparently 715 is to late to get most of the veges. There were no more zuchinni or sqaush or tomatoes..I had to go to walmart instead 🙂

I did get peaches lettuce and radishes though!

    oatmeal ,
Jessica is right that they might be called “red berries” at the store. You can also order them online, which I promise will be worth the shipping!

    Tina O,
I did see the Goddess at TJ’s – I’ll probably give it a try at some point 🙂

Kath and everyone, I wanted to tell you that I made the Oatmeal Creme Brulee recipe and I took one bite and said, this tastes like kugel! Kugel is a Jewish casserole-type thing that can be sweet or savory, made with noodles or matza or potatoes. Kugel is usually really fattening so this was really exciting to discover!

    Hi Kath,

I just read your reply about Bob’s Red Mill wheat berries and you listed this link (for hard red berries): http://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog/index.php?action=showdetails&product_ID=407

But, when I went back to your post called “Wheatberry Lesson” – you listed a different link (for hard white berries): http://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog/index.php?action=showdetails&product_ID=409

Which one is the one you recommend?

    Thanks!

You are exactly right! The red ones are the right ones. I made the change on the WB Lesson page. Thanks for the catch!!
