Toes In The Grass

Yesterday was glorious – sunny skies, warm air and little boys frolicking around in bare feet.

Foodblog-43-2 this !

Those little bare feet got their first pair of TOMS<3

Foodblog-43

After we exhausted ourselves getting covered in grass and dirt, we cleaned up for dinner. I made Cook Smarts‘ Chipotle Black Bean Bowls complete with cilantro-lime rice and the usual combo of tomatoes + avocado + yogurt on top.

Foodblog-09

This morning, we woke up to raindrops.

Foodblog-7258

Since it’s a school day, we had quick breakfasts of yogurt and fruit. I topped mine with granola and almond butter.

Foodblog-7260

And M had his deconstructed with a mini PB&J.

Foodblog-7261

I am cozying up next to my computer for a few hours before venturing out into the rain.

xoxo

Yogurt bowl for me too. In fact, for the first time I enjoyed coconut in yogurt. Of course it was yoplait’s greek coconut but it’s a start. I too had granola. Ok kinda sorta. I broke up a soft blueberry granola bar over it. I really enjoyed it. Probably too much sugar but the coconut flavor wasn’t bad.

Hey Kath, have you ever considered writing a book? Your everyday meals are always more creative and wholesome than I ever think to make – even on the days when I “try” (read: don’t throw dinner in the microwave). Even though you do a great job of speaking to a multitude of nutrition related topics on the blog, it would be cool to have a printed version in my kitchen with recipes, grocery lists, etc. You’ve got great photography skills plus you’re an RD so you could totally do it! If you wrote a book, I’d buy it. Just sayin 😉

Thanks for the gush Lindsey. I have pondered it and have been approached by lots of agents over the years, but I think I prefer the interaction and casual platform that is blogging. Unless I find the perfect topic idea, which has yet to come to me in 7.5 years : )

I love easy meals on rainy days! I’m making crockpot turkey taco salads this week to have on hand for the rain we have coming in Chicago! 🙂

I wish my “quick” breakfasts looked half as good as yours did! Instead mine are usually a banana in the hand and a knife with a jar of peanut butter in the other…definitely have to step up my game 🙂 . That Chipotle Black Bean Bowl looks delightful!

Barefoot playing is the best! What yogurt do you give to Mazen? I’m struggling to find one without so much sugar for my guy who’s the same age

The food looks awesome, and I love waking up to raindrops on the window for sure. There is something extremely peaceful about it! 🙂
