You are here: Home / Lifestyle / To Bed!

To Bed!

You guys often ask me if there’s ever a time I’d like to just skip a blog post and call it a night? Tonight’s one of those! I gotta get to bed!!! But because I love you all so much, I decided to eat dinner and blog per usual. I don’t think I could ever skip a post on purpose!

This afternoon I learned all about the germs on my hands and how to wash them properly

 this !

photo

That killer sandwich held me over allllll afternoon and pretty much alllll evening! Maybe it was the extra slice of turkey I put on (I usually do 1 and I put on 2 inspired by the Dishing Up Nutrition podcast I’ve been listening to – they love meat! I love their "Ask The Nutritionist" shows.)

Or perhaps it’s the first two weeks of my cycle.

Anyways, I wasn’t the slightest bit hungry when I got home from work, but I knew I’d be starving during yoga if I didn’t eat a snack (or the usual me would!)

So I heated up a pear topped with cinnamon, Mix My Granola and  a few almonds. Yum!

I answer>ed a bunch of emails and then got back in my car to head to Y2Yoga. I was giddy with excitement! However when I got there, I discovered that the schedule had changed and my favorite instructor wasn’t teaching 😥 The lady that taught was nice, but the class was a bit slow paced and didn’t do anything hands-on (no chance of a foot massage!) so I left with my vinyasa itch still unscratched since before Christmas!! I might go to the Saturday AM class to try to satisfy my craving.

While I was gone, Matt was busy making salmon salad:

I really wasn’t even hungry when I got home and it’s past my bedtime and I almost went straight to bed. But during my shower my stomach started the very early stages of hunger and I knew I hadn’t had enough calories and soon enough I was digging into my salmon portion –

IMG_4111 (640x427)

His salad was canned salmon (from Costco) with carrots, cuc, jalapeno, mustard, mayo, salt, pepper, dill and cayenne. It was great!

Dessert was Biscoff x2 which was nothing more than a fabulous palate cleanser 🙂

Bedtime now!

Just wanted to mention that I made your bean burgers last night… fantastic! Thanks for sharing the recipe. I enjoyed mine one an arnold sandwich thin with pepperjack and some BBQ sauce. I made an extra to bring to work for lunch and had it on Kashi triscuits with some Laughing Cow. I think this may be my first comment, so I wanted to also mention that I truly enjoy reading your blog! It’s one of the main ones that I keep up with because I appreciate how real and honest you are! Keep on writing 🙂

Also, I have really enjoyed your school rotation experience as I am a teacher and would never go near the food in our cafeteria because it is completely unhealthy 🙁 Can’t all schools teach kids about healthy eating at a young age?

Kath, I am relatively new to your website and enjoy it. A question I have…so many of your meals are combinations of foods layered or mixed in bowls. Aside from your lunches at school, do you ever have plate meals…i.e. some sort of meat, potato and a salad? A hard boiled egg and toast? Is it hard to digest all of the nuts and seeds you toss onto things or is your body used to them?

    Thanks!
    Kim

I am new to your site, and have really been enjoying it! I just read your “Embrace the Cycle” link and was relieved. I know that my cycle effects many things, but nonetheless I was becoming discouraged this week because I have been sticking to my plan perfectly and actually gained a bit. I started today, so I’m hoping maybe my weight will allign with my hard work in the next day or two! The salmon salad looks amazing too! I don’t like salmon, but I’m thinking I need to try that with chicken.

I’m also really happy to see all your posts about the food at schools because food was horrible at my schools: one of the things they had all the time was 3 breadsticks, a cup of marinara, a cup of cheese sauce, and then pick a side (optional, at my school the popular pick was tater tots) and a drink: how is that a meal?!. What you’ve been showing us looks so much better!

Omg, I loved reading your “embrace the cycle” article, that is exactly how I feel month after month. It was like you read my mind and wrote everything down. I have noticed the exact same pattern you described and ever since I realized I couldn’t change it I really started to learn to live with my bodly hormonal changes and it has really helped me out to not feel bad about those two weeks that demand more food and when I have less motivation. Not easy, but I am happy that I got to the point of understanding it! (although it did take me 30 years to get there!!)
Kath, I read your blog everyday and really, really enjoy it! I haven’t commented much but I wanted to say that I really like reading about your activities!
Do you work as a food scientist, nutritionist? I am graduated in Biology (2004), and now decided to go back to pursue my real interest, which is food. I am taking classes on Nutrition and Food Science and all I can say is that I am loving it! I hope one day have as much fun as you do with food!
And I live in NC too, in Cary (close to Raleigh).
    Just wanted to say hi!

Hey, weird! That Dishing Up Nutrition show is local to where I live & airs on a radio station here. It’s not my favorite because I think a lot of the hosts are pretty old school in their nutrition opinions, but I’m glad it gets people thinking about what they put in their mouths & the food/health connection.

Your salmon salad looks amazing! It’s so important to get a dose of yummy fish regularly. I have that same little coral bowl too! I found it in old town Sonoma and I really wished I would have picked up the whole set. If you know where to find more, let us know!

How are you liking the vinyasa yoga? I hear it is more of a work out, but I’m pretty sure I need to try out yoga stretch before I jump into vinyasa!

Have a lovely day–I’m baking up your walnut, oatmeal, flax bread with maple syrup instead of honey as I type 🙂
