Tired + Grumpy

I haven’t had the best day 😥

Chem Lab was bad 👿

Then I got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic

Then time flew and I put dinner in the oven with no plan

Then I worked on Organic chem and realized how much I need to study before Wednesday.

Then I remembered my Micro test on Thursday that really needs my attention

Then I kinda burned a mediocre dinner.

BUT, those are all pretty trivial things to complain about so I am moving on to take a bad and read in bed and hope tomorrow is brighter.

And I did get in some pumpkin beer! The husband and I split one while we got dinner on the table…

Dinner was baked tofu and acorn squash. I put them in the oven at 425* around 6pm and realized the husband was working until 7:30 so I just reduced the heat and left them in. The flavor was good but the tofu was kinda cardboard-y, but still good because it’s tofu! I rubbed it in Bone Suckin’ Sauce, worcestershire, S+P, and honey before baking.

DSC06006

On the side we had the last of these instant rices that I’ve had for AGES. They are handy, but the flavor is pretty pathetic. I mixed mine with plain yogurt (fabulous with rice, if you haven’t tried it) and cinnamon. It was quite redeeming.

Didn’t need a snack today because my salad was very filling, but I did have a small handful of Quaker Squares as I packed tomorrow’s lunch.

I should study, but I’m tired from not getting adequate sleep last night and am off to take a bath and do some non-science reading.

G’night!

Aw, sorry to hear about the lame day! I hate when all the little complaints add up to make for a yucky overall feeling.

I’ll agree with the commenter above and say I’ve gotta try plain yogurt in rice! I think I have both those things at home, yum.

I just spend 5.79 on a half gallon of blue bell peppermint ice cream! They only sell it during the holidays! I officially lose the thanksgiving challenge. but it is super tasty, most definitely the panacea for a bad day!

I totally did that the last time I made baked tofu – I left it in the oven because I wasn’t ready to eat and it got too chewy and hard. Lesson learned I guess.

Rice and yogurt? I like it….that’s a good way to add some protein. Greek yogurt or regular? Plain or vanilla? I feel like vanilla yogurt with the cinnamon would be really good, considering those are the basic ingredients to horchata!

🙁 i’m sorry to hear that you had a bad day. let’s hope that tomorrow you wake up and it’s warm and sunny. (i live in beijing – pollution capital of the world – so it ALWAYS makes my day when we have “blue” skies. today is murky gray… boo…)

i agree that yoghurt in rice is awesome. i tried that after reading your blog, and it’s tastiness. i can totally see it making the instant rice significantly better.

i have a question about the pull-ups you’re doing at the gym. (i’m trying to add more definition to my arms – so i’m looking for good exercise suggestions right now.) do you still use the assisted pull-up machine? or are you doing these “old-school” now? if so, i’m uber impressed. also – for working triceps, does anyone know if you need to do more reps to get good results? maybe more reps on lower weights? my biceps are looking great – but still have that flabby underarm bit that i want to get rid of!

okay, night all. happier tuesday to kath and matt! you guys work SO hard!! i’m constantly impressed!

If you like spicy, you could try making biryani (Indian/Pakistani rice with meat and spices). That’s traditionally served with yogurt and is really good!

    Camtim42 ,
Yes, it’s definitely edible after being cooked.

    Mom ,
Forgot to look at the bottle, but if so, very cool!

    Teenage Veg Head,
Yes 🙁 I think most R.D. programs require 4 semesters (at least) of chemistry, including a year of general chem, organic and biochem.

    Jen ,
Really good with a slightly hoppy bitter finish, making it third place in my pumpkin ale evaluation.

    daphna ,
Our book is MacMurray. What are you putting on your flashcards for the reactions? Maybe I should make some too in addition to my study sheets.

    Nick ,
I’ve used greek and reg. plain. Vanilla would be interesting though!

    Tara ,
I use the assisted machine. I started with 80lbs help, now I’m down to 70 and have increased my reps to about 30. I should move down to 60 soon! It’s made “real” pull-ups possible, slowly but surely.
