Time Traveling First Night

We traveled from Jamaica to Orlando to Richmond to the casa of Eating Bird Food just before midnight!

We had an awesome Au Bon Pain dinner in Orlando of pumpkin soup and split a spicy tuna sandwich. May have been the best airport dinner ever?!

Matt surprised me with the perfect dessert: chocolate covered almonds!

image this !

I also found the latest issue of Rachel Ray magazine and my name inside!

image

image

Thanks to Brittany and Isaac for letting us crash in their guest room (and drink their beer!) They had a rockin party going on and we mingled right in.

image

We all walked to Carytown to watch the ball rise not drop! I was a bit confused when the countdown began and the ball was going up!

image

Happy New Year!

image

I went to bed at 1am, and I think Matt was up till 3! After a somewhat iffy night’s sleep, we’re driving home now on a gorgeous sunny morning!

Home, sweet, home.

i was probably standing nearby in your picture on cary street! we also thought that the ball rising was a bit different… we joked that we should have also counted up from 1-10 instead of the normal ten second countdown, too. as a longtime loyal reader i would have definitely said hi if i’d seen you! have a happy new year, kath!

i like the idea of the ball rising – like the beginning of 2012, instead of the end of 2011. :p hope the rest of your travels go well! i can’t believe you could party after all that flying.

I lived near Richmond a few years ago. We spent a few NYE in Carytown. I liked the ball rising instead of dropping. Kinda of like re-starting the new year from the top. Happy New Year!

We’re celebrating my husband’s birthday today- being born on New Year’s day (National Hangover Day?) kind of stinks, so I always try to make it extra special for him.

so fun! I was out to dinner last night and we were going to go to carytown but parking was a nightmare, so we rushed home to catch the ball drop on the tv, with 60 seconds to spare! glad you had a great trip and still got to celebrate!

Miami does it backwards too – we have an orange that “rises” upward instead of a ball dropping!
