Sweat Expectations

Sure, it’s really, really hot out there. But give me some shade, a bottle of cold water and a fan and I can handle it! It just requires washing everything I’m wearing and a cold shower before bed – and some sweat expectations!

[Holy bump growth spurt!!!! 31 weeks today!]

Bumps-3

Afternoon snack (plus 2 bottles of water!)

IMG_1009

And Matt and I walked downtown for Fridays tonight!

IMG_1014

Unfortunately no one else got the memo – or at least while the sun was still out!

IMG_1017

Some of us cooled off with a cold brew

IMG_1019

Others with icy water and two fans!

IMG_1030

We listened to music for a bit and then decided to head to dinner. Since we’re cooking up a storm tomorrow, we took ourselves out on a date tonight.

IMG_1031

And made our way to the coooool Blue Light Grill

IMG_1032

Where the lights were dim and the AC was blasting

IMG_1036

I had a little trouble with the booth seating, but our friend Elizabeth (of the famous No Bull Burger family!) and server for the night was kind enough to bring me a bolster pillow for my back. Ahhhh.

IMG_1037-2

Matt and I shared a 3-course meal

Fried oysters to start – with a maple glaze and root veggies! These were delicious (and what got me in the door from the menu!)

IMG_1046

We split a local Black Bass with crawfish, pork, potatoes and collard greens for our entrée.

IMG_1048-2

I remember my mom telling me when she was pregnant she could not stand fish, but it’s still my #1 favorite entrée! I just love all kinds of fish, and this one was no exception.

IMG_1049

And finally – we HAD to get the Grilled Peach with vanilla bean gelato, peanuts and lemon verbana for dessert

This was a local peach – so juicy sweet and the gelato by Splendora’s was out of this world. I must get their vanilla flavor the next time I’m in!

IMG_1051-2

Back out in the heat we went (I seriously can’t believe how pregnant I suddenly look!)

IMG_1016

And we ran into Seamane and Rob! We can always count on them for Fridays : )

Baby leg poking out!

IMG_1058-2

I survived the heat, but I don’t know if our plants are. Must water in AM!

So sweet of your friend to bring you a pillow 🙂 Reminds me of when my back was injured and I had to carry a small pillow with me to lecture.

I knew that bump growth spurt would happen right about now- you said that you were feeling small last week and I remember how shocked I was when the spurt was soooooo noticeable and sooooo fast! You look great, Kath!

the Grilled Peach with vanilla bean gelato looks incredible! And way to go for staying active and not sitting at home on a Friday night, even though you’re probably hot and tired – you sure look like a champ!

You look seriously great for being 31 weeks! I honestly don’t remember having the energy you have when I was pregnant with either of my boys. You are so good to exercise and walk everywhere…and it shows! You are prettily pregnant! :-)Do you feel that way yourself? I don’t think I felt that way if I recall. Been a while since those days. My boys are nearly 14 and 16 now!

Lookin’ definitely pregnant these days. 🙂 That color of blue really suits you & the bump! I must ask – what kind of flip flops are those? I’ve been looking for a good, comfy pair of brown ones.

Our plants on our balcony needs water every day, we water at night because the water stays in the soil longer, if we watered in the morning, the sun would evaporate the water during the first hour!

Looking as gorgeous as ever, especially w/that big joyful smile – despite the heat and your likely discomfort. I love that you flaunt your bump so proudly (as should be the case for all late stage pregnant woman!)

Oh, and that grilled peach is perfect….my late June favorite fruit!

Here’s to hoping you can replenish those hot, thirsty greens in your garden!

Aw, baby bumps are so cute! And I hate the heat, but kudos to you to surviving it (and while pregnant – I feel like I’d be SUCH a diva if it were hot and I was pregnant, since I’m already diva-ish about it now). Your town looks so idyllic and post card-y, like Bar Harbor!

Aren’t pregnant women supposed to avoid eating fish?

No, not at all. Only raw/uncooked seafood. Fish are the best source of DHA + EPA omega-3 fatty acids – fish like salmon are highly recommended

Kath you look gorgeous! Way to go!! One suggestion about the fish…while I was preggo I read about pregnant women avoiding fish due to high mercury content. I might be wrong but please do check just in case.
I am a fairly new reader here and I must say I am HOOKED!! You are doing a great job on every front. Congrats!!

You just gotta know which ones to avoid –
      Marlin
      Orange roughy
      Tilefish
      Swordfish
      Shark
      Mackerel (king)
      Tuna ( bigeye, Ahi)

I loved fish when I was pregnant as well! My fiancée is a commercial fisherman so baby and I ate quite wel when I was preggers! I dont love freshwaterfish i prefer saltwater because its less fishy. I sure doI hope she likes fish when she starts to eat “real” food.
