Super Toppers

Back in the blog day, I used to receive a new oatmeal topper nearly every day in the mail: bars, crumbles, granolas. You name it, I probably put it on oatmeal, over yogurt or smoothie-in-a-bowls.

Foodblog (4 of 9)

Super Toppers have taken your favorite oatmeal/yogurt/smoothie toppings and put them into convenient bags in a variety of unique flavors: Ginger Spice, Apple Fig, Chocolate Berry, Vanilla Maple. Plus an oat mix with added omega-3s from flax and chia.

Foodblog (2 of 9)

Each topper is different in flavor and ingredients – my favorite is the Vanilla Maple, which is protein-focused with quinoa, almonds, and seeds. You can blend it into a smoothie or even make a nut milk with it like this! The Ginger Spice includes pecans and pumpkin seeds. The Chocolate Berry is packed with cacao nibs, dark chocolate, chia and dried blueberries. Apple Fig includes buckwheat. Each has a health focus based on its ingredients too – antioxidants, fiber, protein, immunity.

Foodblog (3 of 9)

On the back of the oats package, the directions said to simply pour on hot water and let soak, so that’s what I did. I’d never heard of this as an oatmeal method, but it worked well! (The oats are rolled oats).

Foodblog (6 of 9)

It made for a nice chewy base for my toppers – a little mix of everything plus almond butter! Crunch, crunch.

Foodblog (7 of 9)

I have a giveaway for one lucky person to try these, but you can also buy them online! Free shipping on orders over $35. Enter below to win an Oats and Topper Bundle!

Oh, makes sense. I googled and apparently instant oatmeal is rolled oats that are cut and lightly steamed to pre-cook a bit.

And the fruit in most instant oatmeal packets is usually apple with flavor and color added.

(I OD’d on oatmeal after having my kids as its a galactagogue.)

I am a little confused by your post. You said you had never heard of adding hot water to instant oatmeal as a method of making it. Do you usually microwave it with cold water and the oatmeal packet?
I tend toward microwave it but either works depending on where I am making it – at work we have the coffee maker with the hot water dispenser.

My kid’s favorite oatmeal toppings are raisins, cinnamon sugar and cereal. He’s 5 so tries a lot of different flavor combinations. Is Mazen like that? Its so fun to see the kids develop their own tastes!

This isn’t instant oatmeal, it’s rolled oats. I wouldn’t have thought adding hot water would have “cooked” them enough, but they turned out to be a lovely chewy texture.

Instant Oats are rolled oats. They are rolled thinner than the oats sold as “Old Fashioned” rolled oats. Maybe these are rolled thinner?

This morning I added banana and blueberry in the last minute of cooking and topped with a big spoon of peanut butter. Yum!

Yup I know. They are generally chopped up too to increase the surface area and often are partly cooked. These seem like regular rolled oats to me, which are flattened.

Interesting product 🙂 thank you for sharing!
I can’t help but wonder, though, why pay such expensive prices for items you can easily concoct at home? For the oatmeal – Is it a single serving or a resalable bag that contains multiple servings? I went of the website and they don’t specify either. If it is a single serving, then at $5.99 per bag it is a really bad deal 🙁 so I hope it is multiple servings. The toppers sound fab, but are also really expensive – $8.99 per bag of 6 servings (45g each)……… basically, more than a $1 per topper serving, which is ridiculous for the oatmeal topping! I know it is NOT your fault, but I wonder if you look at the prices of the items you promote and see if they make sense? I think that this product is really pricey and is just not that necessary….
