Studying With Earth

A good morning to you all!

Other than some minor dehydration, I’m off to a good start.

1) 45 minutes of Power Vinyasa Flow #2 (boy was I STIFF! But I felt normal by the end – that’s what I love about yoga!)

2) A big ol’ bowl of oatmeal

IMG_5179 (800x600)

Today’s mix was made with overripe bananas – perfecto!

  • 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup water, pinch salt, splash vanilla, 1 wonderfully ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp flax (stirred in today)
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • A few tbsp Mix My Granola
  • A few globs of coconut butter (interestingly, as the temperature in our house has warmed up, the coconut butter is now soft!! It doesn’t flake anymore but comes out in blobs. Kind of a fun change, but not as even of a distribution)
  • Spoonful MaraNatha

I just made some wheatberries too! It’s been a while since I’ve had ‘em.

Today plan: some major outdoor studying. I’m planning to go on a long walk with my flash cards for Food Science and do Biochem in the hammock later on.

I’ve got 2 review sessions tomorrow, 2 final exams on Wednesday, 2 finals on Friday and 1 presentation on Saturday morning.

Matt is off brewing beer with Justin (he never tires of beer!) so I have the house to myself.

Happy Birthday To Caitlin!!

Random…but I thought of you this morning doing your yogadownload in Africa, and while it’s not quite as exotic, I’m stuck in the lab all day due to babysitting some experiments…so I decided to do yogadownload at work. And I did the exact same one as you today! Crazy coincidences!

    Hi Kath,
Thanks as always for your fun and beautifully photographed content.

I have a question about the coconut butter. Is it sweet at all? Are you adding it for flavor or just for the good fat? Do you use it on or with any other foods?

    crunchygranolagirl ,
That was me! Check out this post on my reflections on it:

    Frannie ,
    Good for you!

    Yussy ,
Thanks! And congrats on getting healthier 🙂

    Jessie ,
OMG – how kind of you to remember!!!! I actually remembered yesterday, but forgot today!

    Michelle T,
    Does Barney Butter count!?

Ah geez…favorite oatmeal. It really depends on my mood! I’d say pumpkin cottage cheese with salted peanuts, Barney Butter and butterscotch chips. But I haven’t been craving such a decadent combo since spring sprung!

    Laurel ,
Hmm…it’s not really sweet, but I add it for the coconut flavor, not for the fat at all. It tastes like unsweet coconut milk or flakes. I don’t really use it in any other cooking, but I should consider it!
