Stop And Pick The Dandelions

A little bit of life lately!

this !

If you stop to pick a dandelion…

You know the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie? Showing a toddler how to pick and blow dandelions is of the same nature! Once he starts he can’t stop!

Most of the time I have to blow them for him or they end up stuck to his tongue 😆

Back to routine

The boys went back to school on Monday, so we’ve been back to our weekly routine. Call it a mom sandwich: parenting hard in the morning to get everyone fed and out the door, work and alone time from 9-2, and fun and games in the afternoons.

We just upgraded our smoothie cups to these stainless cups and have been really happy so far! I love that you can use a straw or drink them like “coffee cups.”

HB eggs, orange, blueberry bread

Scrambled eggs, mango, toast with jam

Lunch salad with leftover steak and squash

Afternoon Activities!

We’ve been playing baseball with Mazen after dinner in the evenings in the front yard. The whole fam seems to be getting into the sport! I don’t have any Mazen pics to share because that boy runs so fast I can’t capture him <3

Patio Before

Consider this your before pic of our patio. It’s been a mess since we moved all the furniture up to the screened porch. I just bought some new rocking chairs for the screened porch (These! A steal!) so the bigger ones can move down. We also need new benches because our old ones are 10 years and the wooden legs are falling off!

Cook Once, Eat Twice

^^ This is the motto I’ve been embracing this year and it’s going swimmingly well. We had Mona Lisa lasagna with parmesan broccoli one night.

And the lasagna leftovers with salad the next.

And these Blue Apron Chorizo Enchiladas carried us two delicious nights as well.

Hope you all are having a wonderful spring week.

Spring just makes everything easier and better! Afterschool playdates and weekends outside seem to lift my kids’ moods like nothing else.

What is Mona Lisa lasagna? It looks amazing! Do you have a recipe or just wing it?

      Agree!

Mona Lisa is a homemade pasta shop here in Cville. They make amazing fresh pasta and lasagnas from scratch.

I would love to read more detail about your AM routine! My son (who is just a few months older than Birch) just started going to school last week, and it has really shaken our mornings up, and I anticipate that my daughter starting school in the fall will make things even more complicated! ! I would love to read more about how you and Thomas organize your morning to get two kids out the door before starting work. ! I really used to love your “Day in the Life” post and would love a “Morning in the Life” post to get some ideas about how we could streamline our morning process! As another mom in the healthcare business industry with two kids like you, I definitely look to your blog for inspiration and ideas about how to make our days run more smoothly!

That would make a good post! Here’s the short answer for you now of our timeline:

5:30 – Thomas wakes up and is downstairs working
5:45-6 – I wake up and work in bed on my laptop (occasionally I workout here, and occasionally I shower if I have to be somewhere)
6:30 – Mazen wakes up on his own and gets dressed, does his few chores, and then watches TV
6:45/7 – Thomas shower / I get dressed in workout clothes
7 – Breakfast for Mazen – usually a smoothie or cereal
7:30 – Birch starting to wake up / Get Mazen backpack and shoes on
7:40 – Mazen leaves with Thomas who drops him off on way to work / Birch up (Thomas and Mazen say goodbye to him before they leave)
7:45 – I get Birch dressed and then his breakfast. I unload dishwasher. He watches a kid show while he eats.
8:30 – We walk to Birch school
9:00 – I am back home and eat breakfast (sometimes I eat earlier if there is a group smoothie) and start work.

I think it helps that we have a staggered exit for the kids and each parent. Our days when we just have Birch are a bit more relaxed : )

Do you know the kids book called Dandy? It’s really cute!
