Steak Is In Da House

We arrived in Dillon this afternoon and checked into our hotel. Since we were about a mile from the downtown and the weather was warmer here than in Charlotte, we decided to walk!

IMG_6130 (427x640)  IMG_6133 (427x640) IMG_6134 (427x640) IMG_6132 (427x640)

IMG_6120 (640x427)

And we walked straight to the Patagonia Outlet!

IMG_6122 (640x427)

IMG_6121 (427x640)

After about 45 minutes of browsing and trying on jackets and fleece, I came out with an awesome steal. I really wanted what we call in our house a "Kanzi Fleece" because Kanz has a furry black one that he’s had since college that makes him look even more like an ape. I tried on all of the adult ones and had a teal one picked out for $87 and couldn’t decide if I really "needed" it or not. And then I decided to try on a kids’ sized jacket that I liked on a whim and realized that the kids’ larges fit perfectly!! And unlike the women’s, they were only $49. Sweet! Happy early birthday to me!! Thanks to my mom for the gift!!

IMG_6124 (427x640)IMG_6123 (427x640)

Too bad it wasn’t colder. I was HOT walking around in it!

IMG_6126 (427x640)

I also got a cute camisole for $5

IMG_6129 (427x640)

The town of Dillon was quaint – and filled with saloons and bars!

IMG_6136 (427x640)

And we found Great Harvest!!

IMG_6141 (640x427)

IMG_6143 (640x427)

IMG_6146 (427x640)

And we found our dinner spot – which was CLOSED on Sundays! BOoo! Since the entire town seemed shut down, we set out on a hunt to find a new dinner spot.

IMG_6139 (427x640)

Our back-up recommendation was a bit far to walk, so we walked a mile back to the hotel to get the car. After an hour of walking, my legs were tired!

We discovered the most beautiful mountain sunset along the way

IMG_6152 (640x427)

IMG_6159 (640x427)

IMG_6161 (640x427)

And we found dinner – at the Lion’s Den, a good old fashioned steakhouse

IMG_6163 (640x427)

We were seated with a pitcher of water –

IMG_6164 (427x640)

Gotta love the deer placemats!

IMG_6170 (640x427)

And a pleasantly impressed local brews list

IMG_6171 (640x427)

Now I had been saying ALL DAY how much I wanted a juicy glass of red wine at dinner. But the wines by the glass were listed as "merlot" and "cabernet" so I figured we were in beer country and I should partake in the good old bubbly brews instead of a glass of red.

IMG_6169 (640x427)

I ordered an amber lager from Missoula by Bayern

IMG_6167 (427x640)

And Matt got more of that delicious Moose Drool!

IMG_6166 (427x640)

And later in the evening, a Pigs Ass Porter, which we shared.

IMG_6174 (640x427)

IMG_6175 (427x640)

Vegetarians beware – huge steak ahead!!

Nothing on the menu was jumping out at me (I’m still waiting to see Montana Trout on the menu!) and I decided to go with a Petit Prime Rib with veggies, a roll, and a baked potato.

Petit I think not – this guy was HUGE!! Like my two hands put together!! It tasted good, but I was more interested in the veggie side of my meal. I had about 5-6 smallish bites and Matt finished off the rest.

IMG_6180 (640x427)

My sides were a baked tater, steamed veggies and a wheat roll. I ate most of this plate sans some of the tater

IMG_6176 (640x427)

Which I doctored with some whipped butter and sour cream

IMG_6183 (640x427)

Matt got a spicy burger with sweet potato fries and polished off them all!! I had a bite of each – delish.

IMG_6182 (640x427)

We were not fans of the onions on the side!

IMG_6178 (640x427)

I wasn’t hungry for dessert at all, but I did want something sweet. I settled for a delicious peppermint from the mint basket.

We got home from dinner before 8PM and aren’t sure what’s next on the agenda. Going to a saloon was discussed and rejected due to our big day tomorrow (I think I was the one doing the rejecting though!) There is a hot tub in this hotel, so we might go soak in that after covered probably close to 8 miles on foot today and a lot yesterday too.

Can’t wait to get to Great Harvest tomorrow!

and

HAPPY 24TH BIRTHDAY TO LARBS!!!

That sunset is beautiful! When Jas and I went to Boone, I loved having a hot tub in our room because you didn’t have to worry about carrying your items from one place to the next, and it was a good way to soak my feet after a day of sight seeing!! Have fun 🙂

Love your blog. I’ve heard alot about it! Seems like your having a great time. I like the fact that you eat meat – not that I have anything against Vegetarians/Vegans mind you!!! – no,not at alllll.
I am not a carnivore by any means and rarely eat red meat…but I enjoy my chicken and occasional steak fillet – and I see so many blogs with no meat…that it makes me wonder if I’m doing something ‘wrong’. Although like I said, I love tofu, and veggies’ and oatmeal and pastas so it’s all good :). I’m not eating burgers everyday either 🙂

I just started my own blog, and love to write…I wish I could make it my career. If you have any advice/help to give, I’d love to hear it! You have lots of experience I see 🙂 Thanks!
