Some Like It Hot

IMG_6618

Hello from the Hotel Del!! We’re thrilled to be staying in such an awesome  historic landmark! Great Harvest knows how to book a convention : )

IMG_6603

Our flight went well. I took 3 naps and read The Hunger Games. Almost done with book 3!

These birds of paradise are all over the resort – so hilarious!

IMG_6604

Once we checked in, we set out for a late lunch EST and noontime lunch California style.

IMG_6605

We found a fun outdoor place called The Fish Company that had fish tacos first on the menu. Sold!

It was, however, way too breezy-cold to be eating outside! I wished I had brought a coat with me! San Diego is tricky – it looks so hot but it’s really so cold!

IMG_6607

We had a sushi roll to start – Shrimp Tempura – nicely cooked inside and out for me.

IMG_6610

IMG_6612

And then a fish taco feast! Grilled mahi-mahi for me with a fruity onion-free salsa they made from scratch for me!

IMG_6616

IMG_6615

So California fresh

 this !

IMG_6614

We are departing for Temecula for a party at the GH owners’ house there in just a few!

Have fun in Temecula! I love it there…too bad you can’t fully partake in the wine-tasting experience, but it’s beautiful up there and you’ll love it!

The Hotel Del…always a class act. Not sure if you’re going to be there tomorrow morning, but their Sunday brunch is legendary.

I have eaten at the Fish Co. many times..and your sushi looks fab.

And yes, San Diego is tricky…looks warm ‘n toasty but it can be downright chilly. I tell people, picture New England football season weather in the winters here, crisp and cool..we just happen to have palm trees 🙂

I too found out the hard way how cool the weather can be in San Diego. My first visit to my sister was years ago when she lived in Coronado. I dressed for warm weather and had to borrow sweaters and sweatshirts from my sister to keep warm. It was especially cold at the beach! I love that my sis still lives in SD so I can get out there once in a while. Have a great time!

Omg…Such memories at the Del! I went to SDSU ( mid-90s yikes! ) and we use to camp sometimes at the beach in front of the resort. We would also try and “sneak into” the pool areas but always got caught and asked to leave….so embarrassing! I’m assuming our backpacks and non-Del beach towels gave us away. I once got busted/and escorted out for rollerblading on the hotel grounds too. Haha! Oh to be 18 again….Aloha 🙂
