You are here: Home / Weekend / Skipped.

August 30, 2010

Skipped.

I’m not doing too well today 🙁 Too much wine yesterday has made me feel headachy and sluggish. I don’t have the drive or energy to do anything! Luckily, I’ve still managed to get a lot done, but without enthusiasm.

Mid-morning I attempted to correct whatever was off balance in my body with a wheatgrass pack from the HLS swag bag. I had it over ice in my Amazing Grass shaker.

IMG_1850 (640x427) (2)

It tasted bad. But it felt good. Serving it over ice helps.

IMG_1851 (640x427) (2)

Then I did the second trick in the toolbox: yoga. I had plans to go to a class today, but I just wasn’t feeling it, so I played with Dave Farmar instead. I did this 60 minute flow class and WOW – hardest class I’ve done in a month! Dave is awesome and definitely knows how to make you sweat.

Do you want to know how focused I was? I watched the mailman walk up and down our street in-between the ups and downs of Warrior I and chataranga. I knew it was mail time! I thought I saw him leaving our porch and resisted the urge to go check the mailbox (I LOVE MAIL, bills and all) to keep my focus on yoga (clearly I was so very focused 😉 ). I was proud of myself for staying put on my mat.

After my class was over, I skipped to the mailbox only to notice he SKIPPED OUR HOUSE! My outgoing mail was still in there and there was nothing new to tear into 🙁

I am sure there is some kind of lesson in this scenario for me about focus and meditation – someone help me out!

***

I felt better after yoga, squeezed in some more work, and then had a late lunch with Matt.

IMG_1863 (640x427) (2)

He hard-boiled two eggs to turn into a veggie-heavy egg salad.

IMG_1853 (640x427) (2)

Which we served on crispy toast. I believe this had carrots, green pepper, egg, pickle, mustard, mayo and paprika.

IMG_1859 (640x427) (2)

IMG_1857 (640x427) (2)

I was in charge of kale chips.

IMG_1860 (640x427) (2)

A means to serve ketchup, these were some of the most perfectly crisped kale chips I’ve had!

IMG_1861 (640x427)

And lastly, this nectarine was like candy.

IMG_1858 (640x427) (2)

Hopefully all those nutrients will make me feel better!

IMG_1855 (640x427) (2)

Hey look – I’m a MamaPea!

IMG_1862 (640x427) (2)

We have a meeting for Great Harvest this afternoon and I must go put on some nice clothes and a smile!

I can’t do Amazing Grass. I have tried numerous times in various ways. It’s so odd because I love green smoothies done myself.

I would have had a hard time not going to check the meal. That does show focus! LOL

Looking at last night’s post I was a little surprised that you had such a chipper breakfast posting. Sorry to hear yesterday caught up with you. 🙁

BUT it brings me to a question I have always wondered – now I can ask a real R.D.!

If I say, overindulge early in the day (BRUNCH being the perfect example of this) and I know I am at or over my calorie intake, but UNDER in my nutrient intake what should I do? Do I go home and eat a salad to get the good stuff in my system? Or do I hold out to the next day so I can digest and let my liver do it’s job?

My response would be to listen to your hunger cues. If you have a huge brunch, I’m guessing by dinnertime you’ll probably just want something light. A salad with a slice of bread or a bowl of soup would make a nice light dinner and keep your body humming. If you absolutely can’t think about food for the rest of the day because you’re so full, then I don’t think it’s a big deal to miss out on nutrients ONCE. Just eat normally again the next day.

But Dave Farmar is the same style, minus some music and touching your feet. I also like how he talks about skiing and seeing mountains in his podcasts since he’s in Denver. None of that in Texas!
