You are here: Home / Weekend / Simple Sandwich, Spinach Salad

Simple Sandwich, Spinach Salad

I have yet to head to the mall!! I’ve got my last Chem class tonight, so if I want to get there I need to leave ASAP.

Morning was spent on various projects plus a great workout. I went to spinning today for the first time since summer school began – almost 2 months ago! I think I lost my cycle magic because my HR was higher than it used to be. It was a great class though. I finished with some upper body lifting in the big gym area afterwards.

Breakfast held me over quite well this morning – 5 hours, including a workout (which I always think drains a little more satiety time from a breakfast). I wound up eating lunch around noon.

More bread! A turkey + pesto + cheese + pickle + jalapeno sandwich

Plus a big salad made with spinach, green pepper, cuc, carrot, corn off a small cob, Woodstock dressing and bleu cheese –

Out the door! I have a thing with shopping that I hate feeling rushed (and I even prefer to go alone for that reason because I’m reallllly slow) so I hope I don’t feel too rushed on this trip with Chem on the other end!

K, I have no idea how you do it but your salads always look appetizing to me. I think the dressing makes the salad… have you tried any new ones that you’ve really enjoyed?

haha…I’m a slow shopper too. I have to take my time!

I almost ALWAYS shop alone…especially without the husband – I don’t want to torture him. What’s with guys – and only going to the mall to get exactly what they need and then they’re out of there??

And if I go to the mall with a friend, I only shop ‘half-way’…I don’t really focus on the shopping part too much. I focus more on the company and conversation. When I shop ‘all-the-way’ – I am completely focused! haha….

Hope you get a lot of good stuff at the mall! Have fun! 🙂

    Yumm!

I have a question though… I have been counting calories for a long, long time and now that I am 6 pounds away from my goal weight I am so sick of counting. I kind of want to close my eyes and eat whatever I want! (granted I don’t like greasy foods anymore so what I want is healthy) but I am too afraid to leave counting behind!

How can I break free from calories but still lose those last few pounds?

Oh, my goodness Sarah, I feel the same. I spent some time on Calorie King this morning Really Counting, beause I want to be done with that last bit of weight. I don’t know if I can afford to close my eyes just yet! I have to work out a little harder too, I think…

I know what you mean about needing to be able to take your time shopping. I’m like that too, *especially* when I am trying on clothes. I take forevvvvver in dressing rooms, which is why I like to go alone so I don’t feel like I am holding others up, and spend as long as I need to examining my butt in those jeans from all angles. LOL.

    Your lunch looks delicious! 🙂

I can only shop for clothes by myself or with my (extremely sweet and patient) husband. Otherwise I feel rushed and distracted- and I need to FOCUS. Shopping is important business 🙂

Yummy lunch! I need to check out this Woodstock dressing everyone’s been using…

    Hi Kath,
I have been reading your blog for such a long time now and love your site, but haven’t ever left you a comment before…I just realized that you and I have the same birthday!! October 26th! When I saw that I thought to myself it was time to finally comment! Other than Hillary Clinton (did you know she has your birthday?) you are the only person I “know” born on the same day as me.
When ever it’s either 10:26 am or pm on the clock I feel happy.
    🙂

You know, if you’re going to insist on spelling it “bleu”, why don’t you go the whole hog and write fromage bleu?

In English we spell it blue cheese… as your package shows.

I have a better idea Mim. Why don’t you type your entire comment to Kath in French?

What a dumb thing to pick on.

Hi Kath, I have only commented randomly as well, love the blog. I have a non-food question….What type of camera do you have? I am in the market for a new one and love the pics you take…I want mine for the pics of my son, which deserves the best! Thanks and have a great time shopping!

The best spinach salad I always have is at Maharaja Restaurant (cuisine indiene) in down-town Montreal. The dressing is grapefruit. Sooo good…

I’m the same–don’t like to be rushed when shopping and prefer to shop alone.

Also–I’ve been eating my sandwiches with dill pickle, pickled jalapeno peppers and instead of mayo Laughing Cow Light cheese. On some chewy bread with some turkey breast–wonderful!

Thanks for the idea! All that flavor is so satisfying and I never miss the mayo.

I love how you light a little candle when you eat- it makes the meal look so intimate and special 🙂

I eat lunch meat at least 3 times a week. I always try to buy the low salt turkey from the deli, but I almost feel like it’s not that good for me to eat that much lunchmeat. Does anyone feel the same way or know of any research that proves you shouldn’t eat it too often? Thanks!!

    Kodi-
I asked Kath the same question about a month ago and she uses a Sony Cybershot (although I don’t know/remember which specific model).

If I’m wrong, please do correct me, though!

    yaz ,
Just Annie’s Goddess and Woodstock. Both are great (but high calorie so use sparingly!)

    Suzanne ,
Totally hear ya on shopping “half way” with friends 🙂

    Sarah ,
You could switch to just writing down the foods (with no counts) or just keeping a general count per meal instead of per day.

    Lauren ,
10:26 ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! My friends still call me when the clock is set on it 🙂 Yes, I knew about Hillary. Did you know I MET Hillary on OUR birthday in 1992!?!?

    Kathryn ,
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with lunch meat that often – many eat it daily. You might want to consider an all-natural or organic kind of you eat it frequently.

    Kodi,
It is a Sony Cybershot (thanks MKM!)
