I started today with a little studying in bed – just to set the tone for the rest of the study-centered day. I’ve got a big clinical test tomorrow that needs my undivided attention.
I ventured down a little later to do 45 minutes of Yoga for Runners. I remember loving the session the first time I did it, but I didn’t like it as much as the Power Vinyasas I’ve been doing. And pigeon was missing from today’s session!? But I still felt stretched and strengthened afterward.
Then I moved on to oatmeal, starring this Koka Moka Probar. While this was a sample, I definitely find these bars worth buying despite their steep price. My strategy is to use only 1/6-1/4 of a bar at a time (on oats) and make it last a while. I just love how Probars are compacted seed blocks – so fun to eat! My favorite is still the Superfood Slam, but I liked this one a lot.
The Oatmeal Mix:
- 1/3 cup oats, vanilla soy milk, water, pinch salt, 1 tiny banana
- 2 dried figs
- 2 tbsp wheatberries
- ~1/3 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
- ~1/6 Probar
- Coconut butter
- Barney Butter on the spoon
Blend of Butterscotch Toffee, Georgia Pecan + Reindeer Blend with 2% milk –
With flowers (the flowers are fake – they came on a wedding gift package, but they sure brighten my day anyway!) + a vitamin
That super-close up is amazing!! Makes me want to grab a big spoon and dive in!! yum!
Love your flower vase!
Good luck with studying, too!
Glad to hear another good pro bar review. 🙂
Love the oatmeal bowl!
I love the pigeon stretch/pose – too bad it was missing today!!
Good luck studying!!
Your oats look fabulous as usual! Have fun studying!

Delicious oats! And love that bowl.
Good luck studying today =) I’ll be doing the same!
have fun studying! those fake flowers are super cute!
Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday says
Fake flowers, smake flowers. They are too cute anyway 🙂
I need to try a pro bar. That is evident.
wow i really need to get my hands on a pro bar! i’m going to have to organize an exchange because i can’t seem to find them here! flowers are cute – who cares if they’re real or fake – they’re pretty!
I have been wondering about probars. I saw them at the store the other day and was shocked to see they were almost $4 for one bar! That seemed very unreasonable to me. I have been wanting to try them though.
Everything in that bowl sounds delicious! I need to check out the probars and the coconut butter!
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
those bars definitely seem like they’re worth it — you always get such a showing from just 1/6!! i like the way you stretch your food 🙂
Oats are looking good….. the bars look amazing. Good luck studying

Sorry if this question has been asked/answered a million times before, but I was wondering if you keep a specific calorie count on your oatmeal breakfasts, or do you just try to keep it in a certain range? My KERF-inspired oats usually clock in around 350-400 calories.

Good luck with the studying Kath! Your bowl looked extra filling this morning – I think it was the pumpkin.
Awww, I get sad when I have to miss out on Pigeon. I always add it in the end if we don’t do it – so great for the hips…especially for runners!
That bowl is so much fun. Where did you get it?
Have fun studying!
Gah, that sounds like such a delicious mixture. Everytime I read your blog before eating, I get sooo hungry. I feel like I could lick the screen. Good luck studying!
Man, you know how to use every square inch of real estate in that coffee mug! 🙂
I want breakfast #2 after reading this! yum!
Love the oats! But that vase is absolutely adorable! I love the color it matches almost everything in my kitchen!
This is my first time visiting your blog, I love it!
Beautiful vase, by the way.

I love your table setting! Ok, now I’m pumped – you’ve inspired me to go out and buy cuter dishware. Why? Why not?!! (-: It totally brightens my morning to see such a colorful spread.
i love that bowl, looks so cute. and the food looks pretty tasty too!
Hey kath- How did the coffee blend work out?
Oh She Glows says
Gosh could Barney Butter look any more delicious!?!?! I must find some in canada….
Love the oatmeal bowl, and the oats! I love adding dried figs to oats!
love the set up- cute bowl and vase. hope studying is going well!
That vase is gorgeous!! Good luck studying!
Is there a reason why you add a portion of a bar rather than just throwing in some of the ingredients–a few seeds, a little fruit, etc.?? Are the bars THAT good, or is it a convenience factor? Thanks.
Love your coffee blend! Your vase is so pretty!
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
I’d buy that bar just so I could say Koka Moka. I guess I could say it anyway.
Koka Moka. Yup, prrrretty fun.
This is a random comment, but I saw the Bonnie Hunt show the other day and noticed she has the same mug as yours! I love it, it’s so classy looking. 🙂 And I really enjoy the shapes of the top of your coffee. It’s always fun and makes me smile in the morning!
Missy (Missy Maintains) says
Your oats look extra yummy today with the Barney Butter dripping down the sides! Yum!
I like the ingredients list on the Pro Bars. Definitely cost effective if you’re just using a little at a time.
Looks great! The first thing I noticed in this post were the flowers haha, you could have told me they were real and i’d probably believe you! They are pretty!
Kailey (SnackFace) says
Beautiful setting! That must set a great tone/mood for the day, despite all the studying that must be done. Good luck with all that!
seelee live (for the love of peanut butter) says
what a LUSCIOUS blend of flavors!
great job, kath!
I have started doing quite a bit of yoga lately and am becoming addicted! I love yogadownload.com too. I am planning on making some purchases with your discount in the next day or too.
My question was how you organize the yoga pose guides with the mp3s? The podcast is nice because they are already organized together but I haven’t found any way to associate a pdf with an mp3 and the best I could come up with is just to be organized about naming and some central folder. Any tips?
Mmmm, ProBars are pretty good! I want to try the kettle corn one.
Everything looks so delicious! I’m going to have to try that Barney Butter; I’ve never seen almond butter that looks that creamy!
That toffee+pecan+Reindeer Blend must have created one mouth-watering hot chocolate! Mm!
$4 a bar! Sweet God.
Man if someone’s oats clock in at 350-400 cals, I feel like a piggy! Mine usually are around 500 cals!
my god, so delicious and cute
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
Good luck studying!
Mmm, I just tried my first probar and it was delicious. I’ll be on the lookout for this flavor!
The bar looks yummy! I’ll be sure to try one, I’ve definitely seen it around.
The oatmeal bowls are usually between 400-500 calories. I usually have the same base everyday, which is about 300 kcal, and about 100 kcal in topping and a 75-100 kcal spoonful of nut butter. Some days it’s probably more and some less.
Spiceaholic + Lena,
Worked well. The Butterscotch overpowered the ones that weren’t as good (in a good way)
The sum is greater than the parts here. I like how the seeds are “glued” together in the bar form in contrast to if I just sprinkled them on. It’s more like chunks of seeds instead of individual seeds.
I have a folder on my desktop for yoga and I divided the sessions by 20, 30, 45 and 60 minutes and then have a folder where I put all the pose guides. I don’t need to look at the pose guides after the initial time I do a session, so they’re find all together.
that bar looks great
Hooray! Thanks for posting the links to the yum coffee finds! 🙂

Good luck with your exam tomorrow! My clinical midterm was today.
