Scenes From The Move

Life changing!!!

Say goodbye to our darling Craftsman house, which we rented for a year. It helped us fall in love with Cville and had the best front porch a girl could ask for –

IMG_0426-3BlogIMG_0427-2Blog

I cleaned for hours as FAST AS I COULD! My goal was to not have to return after the moving truck left. I made it just in time!! Every room was wiped, swept, vacuumed and steam-mopped.

Hello new empty, freshly painted by fantastic Justin the painter new house!!

IMG_0431-2BlogIMG_0432-3Blog

Doors will be painted white tomorrow!

IMG_0436-2Blog

Justin’s family owns the Jimmy Johns here in Cville and he brought us lunch!!

IMG_7042-2Blog

I had a veggie + cheese sub – lots of veggies and cheese!

Salt and vinegar on the side

IMG_7044-2Blog

Gobble gobble I was starved!!!

IMG_7043-2Blog

Highlight of my day: COMCAST CAME!! Within their time period. And we have internet!!

Lowlight of my day: washing 1,000 dishes.

Karen has convinced me that if a dish goes in a box, a roach poops on it. She washed every single dish of hers when she moved and I decided it would sure feel clean to do the same. Don’t think I’m gross for not doing that in the past! Wrapping paper is clean, right!?

IMG_0439-2BlogIMG_0441-2Blog

I own too many bowls!

IMG_0440-2Blog

But I have never owned a pot rack!!

IMG_0442-2Blog

Our empty house was soon a mess. A HUGE mess.

I spent many nights worrying that the dining room table wouldn’t fit. Turns out it fits like a glove!

IMG_0443-3Blog

LAUNDRY ROOM!!

IMG_0450-2Blog

Other than the kitchen, Seamane came over to help with the move and we put together the master BR – so I can rest later tonight. It’s on its way to being so cozy!

IMG_0449-2Blog

Would it surprise you to hear that I had the kitchen put together enough to make dinner? I made the dinner I was supposed to make last night!

Our new dining quarters

IMG_7052-2Blog

On the menu: Spinach Noodles [from Whole Foods] coated in Krissy’s Clementine Cashew Butter (OMG!) along with snap peas, tempeh, shitake mushrooms and orange.

IMG_7055-2Blog

Matt said the clem-cashew butter on the noodles was the best nutty noodle sauce he’s ever had.

IMG_7061-2Blog

It was really really good. Slightly sweet, slightly orange and very creamy!

IMG_7059-2Blog

IMG_7054-2Blog

I was less tired and sore when I ran my half marathon last year. This move has totally wiped my out. My feet can barely stand and I’m so thirsty! Perhaps I should have been drinking Gatorade during my marathon of a day : )

Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!!

Looks great! Congrats on your big move. It feels great to be out of one place and into the next, doesn’t it?!? So excited for you guys! I love the colors you picked in your new house-they’re so happy and cheerful! Gorgeous 😀 I’m impressed you had the kitchen ready-it took us like 2 weeks to be able to use it. Though they were finishing the house around us so I guess that’s an excuse! They still are finishing the basement….I’m ready to wake up and have it be just us!

Mind if I ask how much your rent was for that house? I only ask because renting an entire house in several parts of California is SO EXPENSIVE… but still cheaper than paying a mortgage 🙂

That is super cheap for a 2-bedroom house with a backyard too. I assume it was 2-bdrm that is.

woohoo for a smooth move! i bought bottles of gatorade for our friends that helped us with our move in july and it was a lifesaver. granted that day was wicked hot (over 100º + humidity), but still. so much activity lifting and bending and going up and down stairs etc etc. it really is a workout.

Terrific progress, esp. on the all important (spacious-looking!) kitchen! And, the robins egg blue paint is looking so fresh and lovely – I’m looking for a Justin the painter in my neck of the woods.

Would you tell me what kind of kitchen counter tops were in your rented house and in your new house? Were they the same? I like that woody look with the white contrast. I’ve looked into getting reclaimed wood for part of our counters, but I’m afraid of it scratching too easily.
