Room To Spare

Unpack. Sort. Place. Breakdown. Repeat.

My gosh – make it stop!!!!!

We’re really getting there – you can actually walk through most of the rooms now. Just a few more tweaks in the living areas – then we tackle the basement. *Shudder*

The POD is gone!!

IMG_8384 (640x427)

I would definitely recommend PODS if you are moving long distance. The friendliest and most normal customer service people ever. Our whole move (including a month of storage) cost about $1300 moving 5 hours away. I thought that was really reasonable, especially since we didn’t have to do any scary truck driving. Some of our furniture was dinged, but nothing broke.

For lunch we tested out the dining room!

These cabinets are from Crate + Barrel. We used the lower one as a TV stand in Charlotte, but now they’re both dishes.

My grandmother’s chair. Its partner is in the foyer

The french doors were a huge renting point of this house 🙂

While I worked upstairs, Matt made lunch.

Love that they have bulk Applegate items at WF so we can get as much as we need. [And guess what – they are supplying the deli meat for the Healthy Living Summit!!]

Here’s some of the progress!! Artwork is coming out. Although, the walls here are plaster and we are pretty limited of what we can hang (or at least feel comfortable with).

I have to say, i’m really inspired by your posts the last couple of days. I’m planning to go through my kitchen atleast this weekend and get rid of some stuff that we hardly ever use.

What a great job the two of you are doing getting your house in order!

    Really beautiful!

I use those picture hangers made for plaster walls–the nails have round, ribbed heads. You can find them in most hardware stores and (I think) Target, and come in different sizes for different weights.

    Just found an example online:
    http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3674410&CAWELAID=360567560

They make really tiny, neat holes, even in plaster.

Sorry guys, Forgot to say …..if you can’t put holes in the plaster, there is a company called “3M” that has picture hooks (plastic, about 2 ” long)for different weights that are attached to the wall with some removable stuff that looks like a cross between ” blue tac” and bubble gum, when you want to take them down you just slowly pull the stuff from the bottom, it stretches like gum and releases and falls off.

We’ll probs sell most of our furniture, but we have this beautiful, antique furniture we must move with us b/c we love it and it’s a family heirloom….I can’t even imagine how much it’ll cost for movers to take care of that…I’m not sure a POD would be the best place for that kind of furniture. I love the hardwood floors in your rental. I love the windows too. They open into the room. The charm is over the top! We live in an old farm house in Wisconsin & I love it. We are looking into remodeling some of it. Maybe you could post some bathroom pictures as I am looking for ideas. I can understand why you picked this place. It is so warm it looks like home already. Good luck.

Your house is gorgeous! I totally feel you on the repetition though. We moved last weekend too… So much organizing… Finding new homes for things can be so difficult.
