I survived the drill
It wasn’t really that bad, but the shots did hurt 🙁 The whole thing was over in less than an hour.
Did I mention I my dentist!? If you live in Charlotte and need a good dentist, Dr. Brown’s practice is the best. Her office is impeccable, and I’ve never waited for more than 60 seconds. Everyone is so nice, and they really take care of you. Top of the line!
She volunteered to be on the blog! This is my good side – I think I was drooling out of the other 😉
For afternoon snack I chewed on my tongue
Matt and I went for a walk to catch up.
And then I picked up Karen to head uptown for dinner + the show. We had matching purses from Aunt Becky!
Our first choice dinner spot – Latorre’s – had CLOSED!! So we went to Zink instead. It’s a favorite of mine, but unfortunately the whole place was packed and we resorted to sitting at the bar. We didn’t have time to find another restaurant!
And ALSO just as I walked in the door I got the screen of battery death on my point-n-shoot: "Change battery pack" D’OH!!!!! Somehow I was able to squeeze a bit more juice out of it, but I didn’t take as many photos as normal so they are kinda blurry.
Glass of ZIN to drink
I ordered the Spinach + Pear Salad with Goat Cheese and NO onions and dressing on the side and look what was all over it 🙁 We didn’t have great service because the place was so packed. The waitress did apologize at the end when she saw the pile of purple I’d left on my plate.
I was still kind of numb when I took my first bite and it was quite difficult to eat a crunchy salad with only half a mouth!
For dinner Karen and I split the Maine Sea Scallops with foraged mushroom risotto, smoked tomato butter.
The scallops were amazing. SO crusty and rich.
The risotto was meh. Cold and a bit bland. Didn’t finish it all.
I did have a slice of bread with herb butter too. YOM!
Rockapella came next!! The guys were great – very entertaining. My favorite was the bass – his voice was just magical!
Both Karen and I agreed, though, that we prefer Christmas songs in their traditional arrangements. And there were lots of songs that we’d never heard, which made it less fun. But the group was fun.
Thanks for taking me Karen!
After fighting cars to get out of the parking garage and then dropping Karen off, I drove home with my hand in this bag of holiday bark sent from Matt’s grandmother Bonnie!
Homph gomph! I finally had to tie it back up to stop the nibbling. It was the perfect post-show snack!
Bed time for this body! Tomorrow is going to be busy again. I’ve got a camera guy coming all afternoon to shoot some clips for Open Sky. And Sculpt with Victoria (which I’d cancel but it’s our last one ever since I’ll be working in January!).
Ohh Rockapella, brings me back to “Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego” days. 🙂
OH, I forgot to say that sung that at the end!!!
I still need to try scallops at some point. Something about them scares me!!! 😉 I also need to get my arse to the gym. I have had NO time since Friday w/babysitting all weekend and a crazy mon/tue getting ready to come to Cleveland. However, that has nothing to do with scallops or Christmas musicals, hehe. Looks like you had a fun night!!
Glad your dentist experience was good overall (my dad, sister, cousin and aunt are all dentists… they’re not to be feared in my book!)
Yummy dinner and fun evening!
i hope your afternoon snack of kath tongue held you over well throughout your afternoon, lol. i had to get a cavity in october and forgot to eat before and was RAVENOUS and couldn’t eat all afternoon bc my mouth was numb. glad you had a positive dentist experience!
glad ya had a great night!
Goodness, even your dentist is cute. : )
I’m glad the rest of the day went well.
I hate having a frozen mouth 🙁 At least your dentist is super nice!! Too bad about all those onions lurking on your salad too.
That holiday bark looks amazing! I am so into the baking sweets right now.

When I read that you were going to see them tonight “where in the world is carmen san diego” immediately popped into my head! Glad to hear your mouth/teeth are feeling better!

Girls night out is great and you had such a postive attitude despite some of the snaffus.
Ditto that the holiday bark looks SO good!

Sorry you weren’t impressed with your dinner. The salad looks great to me. What kind of work will you be doing in January? Take care.

It’s so neat that you went to see Rockapella! I got my dad tickets to see them years ago because he loves them — “fun” is the perfect way to describe them!

I love that you said you didn’t finish the risotto because it was BLEH. Can I ask you a question…. how did oyu get to that point, to not finishing something just because it was on your plate and only eat what you truly enjoy? Working on that and would love some pointers!
Practice makes perfect. I was |thisclose| to eating it all anyways.
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Glad the drillingi went as well as it could have. It’s never fun to have to deal with those cavities, but at least it’s over and done with!
What a fun evening! That’s so cute about your matching bags. 🙂

Those scallops look divine! I’m glad you had a good night after a rough dental day.
Hi there! I’m glad you survived the dentist! Just wanted to let you know I got my shipment from Open Sky for my Bodum French Press that I got with that $25 gift certificate (Yes, I was one of the lucky ones that got it!). I just used it for the first time.. the coffee was very good! I am so excited about it! It’s an early Christmas gift!!!
Glad you like it!

I have a dentist appt coming up. Not looking forward to it, but I realize it is a necessary evil! 🙂
Glad you survived the dentist! Mine used to crank up the laughing gas so I wouldn’t feel the shot – thank goodness!
SO JEALOUS! I have always wanted a dentist that gives out the gas.
Janna (Just Flourishing) says
Those scallops look awesome. Scallops are my absolute favorite!
It’s so important — but hard — to find a good dentist. I finally started going to a good practice a few years ago and hope I don’t have to change any time soon. Even though I don’t have insurance any more, I keep going there because it’s THAT good!
Except that we’re MOVING to another city 🙁

Sounds so fun! Too bad you didn’t get what you wanted on the salad, but at least the scallops were perfect!
We’ve had a lot of restaurants (GOOD restaurants!) close in the last year. SO sad!!
Oohhhhh, I LOVE Rockapella! And the picture of you and your dentist is adoraaaaable. =D
Seth @ Boy Meets Food says
I love Rockapella too. I sang in my high school and college choirs, and have always been a sucker for the acapella groups.
