Rockin’ Girls Night

I survived the drill

this !

It wasn’t really that bad, but the shots did hurt 🙁 The whole thing was over in less than an hour.

Did I mention I my dentist!? If you live in Charlotte and need a good dentist, Dr. Brown’s practice is the best. Her office is impeccable, and I’ve never waited for more than 60 seconds. Everyone is so nice, and they really take care of you. Top of the line!

She volunteered to be on the blog! This is my good side – I think I was drooling out of the other 😉

photo

For afternoon snack I chewed on my tongue

Matt and I went for a walk to catch up.

And then I picked up Karen to head uptown for dinner + the show. We had matching purses from Aunt Becky!

Our first choice dinner spot – Latorre’s – had CLOSED!! So we went to Zink instead. It’s a favorite of mine, but unfortunately the whole place was packed and we resorted to sitting at the bar. We didn’t have time to find another restaurant!

And ALSO just as I walked in the door I got the screen of battery death on my point-n-shoot: "Change battery pack" D’OH!!!!! Somehow I was able to squeeze a bit more juice out of it, but I didn’t take as many photos as normal so they are kinda blurry.

Glass of ZIN to drink

IMG_0166 (480x640)

I ordered the Spinach + Pear Salad with Goat Cheese and NO onions and dressing on the side and look what was all over it 🙁 We didn’t have great service because the place was so packed. The waitress did apologize at the end when she saw the pile of purple I’d left on my plate.

I was still kind of numb when I took my first bite and it was quite difficult to eat a crunchy salad with only half a mouth!

IMG_0168 (640x480)

For dinner Karen and I split the Maine Sea Scallops with foraged mushroom risotto, smoked tomato butter.

The scallops were amazing. SO crusty and rich.

The risotto was meh. Cold and a bit bland. Didn’t finish it all.

IMG_0170 (640x480)

I did have a slice of bread with herb butter too. YOM!

\IMG_0176 (480x640)

Rockapella came next!! The guys were great – very entertaining. My favorite was the bass – his voice was just magical!

IMG_0178 (640x480)

Both Karen and I agreed, though, that we prefer Christmas songs in their traditional arrangements. And there were lots of songs that we’d never heard, which made it less fun. But the group was fun.

Thanks for taking me Karen!

After fighting cars to get out of the parking garage and then dropping Karen off, I drove home with my hand in this bag of holiday bark sent from Matt’s grandmother Bonnie!

Homph gomph! I finally had to tie it back up to stop the nibbling. It was the perfect post-show snack!

Bed time for this body! Tomorrow is going to be busy again. I’ve got a camera guy coming all afternoon to shoot some clips for Open Sky. And Sculpt with Victoria (which I’d cancel but it’s our last one ever since I’ll be working in January!).

Nite!

I still need to try scallops at some point. Something about them scares me!!! 😉 I also need to get my arse to the gym. I have had NO time since Friday w/babysitting all weekend and a crazy mon/tue getting ready to come to Cleveland. However, that has nothing to do with scallops or Christmas musicals, hehe. Looks like you had a fun night!!

Glad your dentist experience was good overall (my dad, sister, cousin and aunt are all dentists… they’re not to be feared in my book!)

    Yummy dinner and fun evening!

It’s so neat that you went to see Rockapella! I got my dad tickets to see them years ago because he loves them — “fun” is the perfect way to describe them!

I love that you said you didn’t finish the risotto because it was BLEH. Can I ask you a question…. how did oyu get to that point, to not finishing something just because it was on your plate and only eat what you truly enjoy? Working on that and would love some pointers!

Glad the drillingi went as well as it could have. It’s never fun to have to deal with those cavities, but at least it’s over and done with!

What a fun evening! That’s so cute about your matching bags. 🙂

Just wanted to let you know I got my shipment from Open Sky for my Bodum French Press that I got with that $25 gift certificate (Yes, I was one of the lucky ones that got it!). I just used it for the first time.. the coffee was very good! I am so excited about it! It’s an early Christmas gift!!!

It’s so important — but hard — to find a good dentist. I finally started going to a good practice a few years ago and hope I don’t have to change any time soon. Even though I don’t have insurance any more, I keep going there because it’s THAT good!
