Ring In A New Year

A grandmotherly breakfast!

IMG_5401Blog

Tea in a teacup (with a saucer!)

IMG_5405Blog

Fresh squeezed OJ in a goblet

IMG_5406Blog

And cereal with milk, banana and blueberries (and a little of Rosie’s Best choco granola!)

IMG_5403Blog

And then we were off!

IMG_5425Blog

Gram has had a rough few months since my grandfather passed away in August, including a fractured ankle. On her birthday today, she wanted to be taken out to a jewelry store so she could buy an 86th birthday ring!

IMG_5414Blog

Her friend Dilys took us to her favorite jewelry store, which was tucked away in the bottom of a building but quite a nice store!

Our crew made quite an entrance –

IMG_5421Blog

IMG_5415Blog

IMG_5419Blog

My grandparents used to love to go to Subway for veggie subs, so that was Gram’s birthday lunch request

IMG_5430Blog

I was in charge of ordering all 5 – it was quite the order list!

I got a veggie sub with everything but onions!

IMG_5431Blog

IMG_5433Blog

Mary Frances got a special pumpkin dip just for me! With ginger snaps for dipping!

IMG_5440Blog

The dip was pumpkin with cream cheese and was delish!

IMG_5442Blog

To end our birthday lunch, we shared one of MamaPea’s Dough Balls. I tried to stress how famous they are while we consumed, but I’m not sure the others realized what a treat this was

Winking smile this !

Time for me to hit the road!

It was my husband’s bday yesterday and I am posting pictures of what I made for him. We are traveling and Im not at my home kitchen so everything is wayyyy more complicated anyway, but glad to know you ladies rocked the Subway. The bday “meal” for my hubs was what HE wanted and was really low key. Glad your Gram got Subway like she wanted 🙂

I just ate something similar, but used my mom’s warm-from-the-oven granola that I’m now obsessed with…here’s the recipe (perfect for gifts, because if you keep it around too long you’ll eat it all): http://eating-made-easy.com/2010/12/20/moms-snacking-granola/
