Parade Of Mangos

Foodblog (4 of 5)

If you are what you eat, then I am a mango. Mazen LOVES “mingos,” and we’ve been eating them for our breakfasts for weeks and weeks. So much so that in my backlog of extra breakfast shots that I never shared, it’s all mango! We love the 5 for $5.00 champagne mangoes from Whole Foods. They are sweeter, softer, and smaller than the big ones. Here’s the parade:

^^Above is a Honey Whole Wheat roll with almond butter (and mango).

Foodblog (3 of 3)

^^ Frothed coffee plus half a Fannetastic banana egg pancake (and mango).

Foodblog (2 of 12) this !

^^Almond butter toast, coffee (and mango).

Foodblog (1 of 4)

^^Morning glory muffin, egg, (and mango).

Foodblog (1 of 1)-2

^^Double eggs, double toast, cappuccino, (and mango).

Foodblog (2 of 4)

^^Mango for lunch! Spinach and cheese quesadilla (and mango).

Foodblog (1 of 1)-5

^^And my little mango eater! (And mango 🙂 ).

I love mangos! We haven’t gotten any at the store yet this year–but these pictures are telling me that it sure is time! We’re taking a long weekend this weekend to go to Smith Mountain Lake and I’m seeing some fresh mango in our future!

I tried one of these mangoes from WF last week — delicious!

My favorite mango story, not that anyone asked: one of my girls, when she was about 4, would sing the B-I-N-G-O song and end each chorus with “and Bingo was a mang-oh”

Cracks me up to think about it, even all these years later.
Thanks for the reminder to go back to get more of these!

You should go to trader joe’s. This summer is mango themed and we have 50 new products with mango in it. I work at one in san diego and all the mango stuff is coming now. Not sure about the east coast timing.

Please do a video tutorial or post on how you slice your mango! I always feel like I’m going to cut off a finger- they are delish but slippery suckers!! 🙂 nowadays I stick a fork in one end to hold them steady while I slice but it’s not always a success. My husband get to suck on the pit at the end- then he always complains about needing floss lol Oh mangoes- you delicious pains in the butts! 😀

I figured out the best way in the DR last year – you slice each “cheek” off and then you slice those like a watermelon, leaving the skin on. Then you just eat the fruit off the skin like you would a watermelon. So much easier and no messy peeling!!

Have you ever or anyone else heard about mango skin being like poison ivy on your skin. I always have to wear rubber gloves and make sure I don’t leave any skin on the mango or it will make my lips blister. It stinks because I love mangos!
