You are here: Home / Charlottesville / Night Out.

January 6, 2012

Night Out.

It was a beautiful night to be out and about!! Much improvement from the teens we experienced earlier this week. Still l.o.v.i.n.g our new house’s location – just a quick brisk walk and I’m in the thick of things!

IMG_4258Blog

Tonight I met up with beautiful Hilary for some gallery crawling!

IMG_4260Blog

And while it appears we were caught in a beautiful snow flurry, I promise it was not snowing ; )

IMG_4261Blog

Our first stop was my favorite gallery, the Second Street Gallery, where we viewed two awesome exhibitions exploring texture, color, paper and words: Rachel Hellmann’s Chromatic Boundaries and Scott Hazard’s Typographic Cultivations. I didn’t want to take photos, but you can see snippets here!

We nibbled on a pretty fancy spread of catered appetizers

IMG_4266Blog

Including bacon-wrapped dates!! And this beautiful cheese spread

IMG_4267Blog

Some nibbles!

IMG_4262Blog

We went to a few more galleries and browsed through Urban Outfitters before meeting up with Faith and Tate – completely accidentally – when we both walked into Vita Nova pizza! It was the shock of the week to find them already in there!

I had a Margherita slice – with extra cheese!

IMG_4270Blog

It was wonderful. And Matt joined us just in time!!

IMG_4268Blog

We three kings girls and Matt headed down to Sweet Frog to end the night. The weather was finally warm enough to even think about eating something frozen!

IMG_4275Blog

Coconut, Mint Chocolate, Cake Batter topped with candy bar crumbles. I always think I’m going to go light with fruit and then always end up with candy. It’s just so much better!

IMG_4273Blog

Matt and I called it a night early since we’re both tired from a restless night last night. Hoping to get some good reading in in 5…4…3…2…

Mmmm froyo. I have been having mad cravings. I was going to go alone last night to get some (and blog about how cool that makes me, obviously) but luckily I found some friends who were willing to come. Too bad I am STILL craving it! I snuck a taste of the cake batter flavour myself…but it wasn’t my thing. More power to ya!

We have something like a gallery crawl as well in San Luis Obispo. Art studios open up and some provide little snacks. It’s really fun. I also went to Fro yo too, but it’s a new place here and it is so good! Soo many toppings. Mini nutter butters, peanut butter filled pretzels, chocolate covered espresso beans, ect ect. I never get the fruit except banana. I figure I’m getting froyo I want candy not fruit, haha.

Hey Kath! I have been poking around on KERF/BERF and came across this post. I was wondering about the frozen yogurt… I am 10 weeks pregnant and recently signed up for the future moms program through my Anthem health insurance. When I was on the phone with a nurse at Anthem she was going over some safety guidelines and recommendations. She listed several foods to avoid such as unpasteurized cheese, high-mercury fish, and and lunchmeat. I was surprised that soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt were also on the list. And very disappointed since there is a new frozen yogurt place in my area that I’ve been dying to try! She said that sometimes the machines that dispense the FY are not properly cleaned and can harbor listeria. Have you heard the same thing? Or have you been told it is in fact safe? Not at all trying to criticize your choice to indulge! Just curious because I have been avoiding soft serve and have been craving it! : )

    -Ashley

p.s. – I have really been enjoying BERF and, thanks to you, am obsessed with Pregtastic! Good luck in the coming weeks – I really believe natural birth is the healthiest option and can’t wait to hear all about your experience. I am not sure I am strong enough to go completely drug-free, but you are an inspiration!

      Hey Ashley,
I have heard the same rumors about listeria and frozen yogurt places, but this seems to be a new guideline – my doctor didn’t mention it at all. If I were you, I would ask the owners of your place (or the managers) how often they clean their machines. If they respond with a system and say they always clean between flavors, then I’d be OK with that, but if they are wishy washy on procedures, maybe find another place to visit.
