My Morning In Minutes

You can tell the mornings when I go running because my breakfast post is always quite late!!

IMG_9606Blog

I WENT RUNNING!!

I almost didn’t.

Woke up at 7 moderately hungry. Did not really feel like running. But the sun was out…

  • Running attire donned.
  • Teeth brushed. Thought of running more appealing…
  • Glass of water. Hunger abated.
  • Date in mouth – no longer hungry (it’s funny how FAST my “morning hunger” goes away after just eating ONE bite!)
  • Garmin + iPod afixed to body.

Running now seems a little appealing.

Mile one: 8:49. Going ok.

Mile two: 8:29. RUNNING IS FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Mile three: 8:19. Competitive self decides to try to pass another woman jogger. Success.

Mile four: 8:40. Damn Cville and its hills!!

Last half mile: Run it in and walk up final hill.

Felt great!!

Back at home for some berry picking and smoothie making.

Our poor strawbs are all water logged and rotty from all the rain :*( But I did find a couple of good ones in the patch.

Pick Yer Own Strawberry Smoothie

  • 1 cup freshly picked strabs
  • 1 extra ripe banana
  • 2 tbsp Scottish oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Ambrosial Granola + honey for toppings
  • Non-edible flower décor on the side

IMG_9604Blog

One of those days I am I glad I am no longer addicted to coffee!! I just didn’t want anything in a mug on the side of this, and was happy not to have to make it.

IMG_9608Blog

No word yet how the baking is going, but I hope to taste some of Matt’s bread for lunch! Despite the fact that he can bake at any time of day, he seems to love the mornings, so he was up at 5:45 to go make a batch of scuffins! Honey Whole Wheat was project #2.

Flour Power!

Haha. The competitive self comment is hilarious!

I’m an early riser, too. I think I would be there baking just like Matt. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

I love the flower decor in your pic!

I go through the same motions/thoughts when I get up for a 6am class. Sometimes it takes me at least 30 minutes to get rid of the zombie feeling.

I know that zombie feeling! When my alarm goes off that early I usually decide nothing in the entire world is worth waking up for, and if I do manage to get out of bed it’s at least 30 minutes before I stop feeling angry at being awake! 🙂

Rockstar move on the mile 3 competitiveness. I do the same thing. Do you ever wonder if the other runner knows what you’re doing? I’m waiting for the day someone start racing me. 🙂

The flowers certainly add something to that photo 🙂 Ah. Spring. Props for being able to drink a glass of water before anything! For some reason (is this only me?), if I drink a glass of water on an empty stomach, I feel so ill — nauseous, etc. Weird, right? But also congratulations on your run. Always a great way to start a day — that sense of accomplishment really gives you a lift!

I typically work out in the morning but since I live in Alaska the sun isn’t going down until 11:30p now. Definitely making my early morning wake up calls a bit more difficult. I normally go to sleep around 9-9:30p… but find myself watching reruns of Glee on hulu at 11pm because the sun is out!

Definitely need to get my act together! 🙂
