Moving To Music

Fun day more of house organization!! I’m walking around my house with two mantras:

1) Is this worth packing, moving and unpacking to Charlottesville?

and

2) What would Real Simple do? (WWRSD?)

Both are helping me determine what is really important in the house and what I am just holding onto because I don’t know what else to do with it. I know whenever we move out of this house I am going to be SO glad I did this early! I reorganized several drawers (you know the one where you put the user’s manual for every electronic or piece of furniture you buy!?) and we tackled the guest room closet this evening. Matt is even more of a hoarder than I am! He had stuff from college that he’s just been toting from house to house. It’s been sorted 🙂

So backing up to this morning, I met Kate at her house to head to cycle class together! We had a great hour-long class of "Songs Across America." Great way to spend a rainy day.

After class I went back to Kate’s to drink some JUICE!

IMG_0036 (640x480)

Ingredients were tons of spinach, carrots, apples and a pear-

IMG_0032 (640x480) IMG_0033 (640x480) IMG_0034 (640x480)

IMG_0035 (640x480)

FOAM!

IMG_0037 (640x480)

LOVED the juice! You can taste the veggies, but the flavors are SO FRESH. I would really like a juicer. Not sure I want to pay full price. Might start looking at places like Craigslist!

Lunch Part II occurred at 4PM. I still don’t know what’s up with my appetite, but I think sleeping late has a big something to do with it.

I had a toasted High Five Fiber bun with some butter and 2 clems! Plus tea.

IMG_0039 (640x480)

I hadn’t given much thought to dinner until 5PM when I realized I hadn’t planned anything yet! So I decided to pull together a recipe I’ve been thinking about for a few weeks now:

Lentil + Sweet Potato Salad with Dates + Walnuts

And here’s its very own recipe page: Lentil + Sweet Potato Salad

IMG_9451 (640x427)

Ingredients included some pretty lentils

IMG_9442 (640x427)

And this Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar and Spicy Apple Mustard from Foodbuzz

IMG_9447 (640x427)

I served the lentil salad in the middle so we could have it on top of the spinach

IMG_9452 (640x427)

IMG_9448 (640x427)

It was delish!!!

IMG_9461 (640x427)

IMG_9455 (640x427)

I did another hour and a half of stuff and worked up an appetite.

I had a snack of a Mussleman’s applesauce with some Bear Naked cereal and PB…..and the photo is NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!!!????? I just took the photos and then uploaded and they are not on my camera or computer. So strange. This better not become a regular behavior of the electronics!

I’ve got class tomorrow, but it shouldn’t be too painful 🙂

Nite guys!

I know how you feel about cleaning and organizing. It can be so daunting, but so rewarding when it’s all over! Today my husband and I got a new mattress, which led to basically taking apart our entire bedroom and cleaning and re-organizing our room. Tough work for a pregnant lady, but it sure looks nice now!

Oh wow that juice looks delicious! That’s a good idea to look on Craigslist – maybe somewhere will have it on sale on Black Friday too (if you’re one to brave the sales)?

Yum, Bear Naked cereals are so good.

You’ll definitely be glad to have started packing, or organizing, early. I’ve moved SO many times and always end up throwing random stuff into boxes at the last minute, which is super annoying once you get to the new house and realize you’ve brought unnecessary things. 🙂

all the organizing/packing will be worth it because you’re moving to virginia! which is a pretty fab state, even though i’m a little biased. 🙂

But the real question…what do the bears think of Bear Naked? 😉

My husband was quite the hoarder too. I couldn’t believe the amount of junk (okay, sentimental junk) that he had from college either, only when we moved in together college had been over for FIVE YEARS!

Oh my! Your dinner looks FANTASTIC! I REALLY love your recipes and need to plan them into our weekly dinner routine.

    Have a great Monday!

I just sorted through our house not once, not twice, but three times. And it does feel fantastic to have parred it all down to the bare minimum. You’ll be so happy you took the time & effort to sort through everything. The lenils/nut concoction looks fantastic.

I have one organizational tip for you, if you want it. Put all those manuals with your bill records! I have all of mine in one folder of our filing cabinet and while that folder is really thick it freed up a whole small kitchen drawer for us. Plus no manuals fell behind the drawer anymore! Just a thought.

Also, PB is a hoarder and so am I, but then we go on these rampages and throw tons away, but leave certain things we still can’t give up but SHOULD!

I did the sort/purge/pack/donate/recycle/toss/sell routine a few months before our latest move and what a blessing that was! It made moving sooo much easier and made life at the the new (much smaller) place even better – I didn’t have to worry about where to store or fit certain things (good-bye 14′ couch!). 🙂

    Julia,
    Thanks!

    rhodeygirl,
I used to do that – but my file cabinet got too crowded!! I like to put bulky things like cords with the manuals, so I needed more space.

    betty,
We’re moving to Charlottesville, VA next summer.
