More Muscles [Clams This Time]

Walk and walk and walk and walk and walk and walk and walk!

This afternoon was quite the walking adventure. I literally walked (well, walked and biked) from one side of town to the other. Charlottesville is no big city, but it’s not tiny either.

After my walk with Andrea, I biked (1 mile) to Faith’s and we walked to the yoga studio (about another mile). We entered the studio and began taking off our coats only to notice that the upcoming class was most definitely not the free teacher training session we were expecting.

Apparently the class was canceled and no one told us. Since we had no wallets, we decided to leave and keep walking.

Which led us to Tate’s nearby brand-spanking new (in the ownership sense!) chiropractic clinic!

image

Congrats to Tate for opening his business doors this week!! I got the grand tour and a demo of a few of the machines.

[Speaking of opening businesses, check out Matt’s blog post on the Great Harvest blog!]

image

Faith and I walked back home, and then I biked the rest of the way. I love that my “workout” today was a total accident 🙂 Just pleasurable walking.

When I got home, Matt and I started our planned dinner: Clam Chowder!

IMG_7410Blog

We used this recipe, which is inspired by a Cooking Light recipe: Clam Chowder.

IMG_7388Blog

The recipe featured this giant can of clams Karen got for our Bald Head pasta. We only ended up using one of her two cans, so this big guy went into a huge pot of soup for tonight.

IMG_7383Blog

IMG_7385Blog

Crumbled bacon for the daily garnish!

IMG_7384Blog

The soup was AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! So, so flavorful yet no heavy cream involved.

IMG_7405Blog

Huge chunks of potato, chewy clams, bright broth

IMG_7402Blog

Silly Matt felt it appropriate to serve our chowdah with a sip of sipping sherry (this was the sweet cream sherry – not the salty cooking kind). It actually went really well – little for the soup, little for me!

IMG_7397Blog

His soup was served in our new Chesapeake Bay mug from the Allen’s Christmas gift!

IMG_7393Blog

IMG_7407Blog

I’m a really lucky gal because Matt does the dishes every night. Since my job involves working every night after dinner, he lets me work and does the dishes. But tonight he went out beer tasting and so I took the liberty of not only cleaning the dishes but also cleaning the whole kitchen. I went a little crazy!

I am now heading upstairs to resume a clothing organization project. When I return from Montana, I’m planning a whole string of posts on household organization!
