Me, Myself & Goji

Morning!! It’s an ideal day when you get in bed at 10:26 and wake up at 6:26

 this !
Wish I could do that everday.

After reading iPhone blogs in bed for thirty minutes I got up and couldn’t decide what to do next!! I wasn’t really hungry yet, I wasn’t in the mood for a hard workout, I was too restless for yoga, it was too early for the farmer’s market – so I went for a walk with MySelf!

IMG_8336 (1024x768)

I needed cash for the market so I walked to the ATM and back – about 40 minutes. When I returned hunger arrived with me. I was craving coffee this morning so I made an iced one. It would have been better with suga.

IMG_8339 (1024x768) IMG_8340 (1024x768)

And I decided to use up some more of our cereals –

IMG_8337 (1024x768)

IMG_8345 (1024x768)

The Mix:

  • Half a cup me&goji
  • ~1/4 cup Zoe’s Granola
  • ~1/3 cup raspberries
  • Half large banana
  • Tbsp flax
  • ~1 cup vanilla soy milk

IMG_8344 (1024x768)

I LOVE cereal – it’s one of my favorite foods, but I do NOT like eating it!! It’s gone too fast and I don’t like it soggy so I eat it quickly. It’s ideal over yogurt because you get more time. I don’t like it when my meal is gone in 10 minutes or less.

IMG_8343 (1024x768)

IMG_8338 (1024x768)

I’m off to the market now!! Don’t think I’m going to go to the gym today. Instead I might go for a scenic walk or perhaps go to the YMCA pool for a swim!

I’m with you on the cereal – love it, but it’s over so fast! That’s why I hot cereal/oatmeal, even when it’s hot out.

Have you ever tried liquid stevia in your coffee’s or other drinks? It’s an herb and I use it all the time. Pricey, but it goes along way.

    Enjoy!

I can’t stand cold cereal. I never ate it as a kid and then tried to do the special K challenge in college and that just turned me off of it even more! But, I love eating it dry or sprinkling a bit on top of my oatmeal…….. mmmmm! It’s the milk that messes it up for me.

Have a fun time at farmer’s market! 🙂

I have the SAME problem with cereal! I can’t stand it soggy! Someone once suggested to me to use 3 bowls: one for cereal, one for milk, and one for mixing small bits of each together to keep the cereal crunchy. It’s a fun slow breakfast!

You can always keep the milk and cereal separate and dip the cereal in milk as you go! I personally like dry cereal a lot!

I LOVE cold cereal and I hate that it’s gone so fast too! Some cereals I don’t mind going a little soggy – like muesli for example, so I take my time with those but something like Kashi Go Lean soggy=ugh!

Enjoy Self and the Farmer’s Market – sounds perfect!

I hate soggy cereal too. My solution is too add just enough milk to sprinkle some moisture on to it so it’s not all crunch.

I have yet to master the art of walking and reading. I think I would end up tripping or get hit by a car if I read a magazine while walking to run an errand.

the day ahead sounds lovely. enjoy!

I think some cereals taste better soggy than others. Like Grape Nuts….I love them soggy. However, my all-time favorite cereal since I was a child, Peanut Butter Crunch, tastes AWFUL soggy.

i almost always eat my cereals with yogurt. it’s an ideal combination – no mushy cereal, and the yogurt flavors don’t melt away into the milk!

    Kath,

I love cereal too! I eat it almost every single day but I am just like you in that I like to spread my meals over at least a 30 min. period. To make the cereal a little less soggy, I have learned to use less milk. If you are use to drenching your cereal in milk, it may take some getting use to, but if you use a more dense cereal (like bran flakes) mixed in, they seem to keep the rest from getting soggy quickly.

    I usualy incorporate
    1/4 c of Fiber One
1/4 C. of a “special” grain (like granola)
    1/2 C of bran flakes
    1/2 C of soy milk

I eat this whole bowl over 30 min and it doesn’t get too soggy.

Good luck. Hope you have a great weekend.

Hey Kath – love your blog! I notice that some days you don’t eat breakfast really quickly after you get up. I’ve been told that it is “critical” that I eat within 30 minutes. What are your thoughts on that theory? Breakfast looks yummy!

    Pam Striker,
I’ve never bought it because of the price, but I’ve always wanted to try it.

    ellie ,
Oh cool! We want to come to the UK so badly, but I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon for budgetary reasons 🙁

    Kelly ,
I don’t think it’s “critical” to eat by any number’s rule, but I do think breakfast is super important and everyone should eat it. I usually do eat within 30 minutes of getting up – unless I go out for exercise. When I wake up earlier than usual sometimes I’m not hungry and wait a bit just so breakfast tastes better, but hunger usually does hit within 30 minutes to an hour at the absolute most. I’m of the intuitive eating mind-set, so while I do think one should eat an energizing morning meal, you also don’t want to eat when you’re not hungry. People who aren’t hungry for breakfast are usually eating too much at dinner/evening, so those who aren’t hungry should scale back dinner over a week and see how it goes.

I totally agree with the cereal thing. Its one reason I don’t usally like eating it in the morning…its gone too fast! I love to take my time and savor my food, and I can’t do that with cereal. So sad.
