Man Who Cooks

Here he is, my man who cooks!

KanzBlog

Tonight was the 24th Annual Men Who Cook Fundraiser, and Matt was invited by Mikey B to be one of about 70 Cville men who made a dish for the evening.

IMG_6982Blog

All you can eat madness!!!

IMG_6923Blog-2

Outfit du jour –

OUtfitBlog

Haven’t worn that dress in years! I think since this even we went to in Savannah in 2007! Boy were we young!

Black tie II

Matt of course brought Great Harvest Bread. He actually was up at 4AM this morning to drive to Warrenton to help Pablo with his day’s breads so he could say that he technically made them himself! What a trooper.

IMG_6920Blog-2

Flavors du jour

GHbreadBlog

We served the breads with a trio of spreads –

IMG_6926Blog

A Smoked [Paprika] Bean Dip (recipe not recommended!)

IMG_6930Blog

Rosemary Whipped Butter [simple and delicious!]

IMG_6929Blog

And Kelsey’s Pimento Cheese recipe – with more mayo and less yogurt for the crowd. Made with those spiced pecans from lunch!

IMG_6927Blog

The bread was definitely my favorite part of the appetizers 🙂 And we had a GREAT response from people – including one woman whose jaw was literally on the floor and she could not stop eating them! We loved it!

IMG_6945Blog

I had a few more tastes of things, but kept portions to one bite each – had to save room!

TastesBlog

I had a glass of wine to start the evening. I always ask the bartenders to pour me a teeeeeeny glass to sip to slow me down. This was the best he could do! It was a tiny pour in a tiny glass.

IMG_6933Blog

IMG_6947Blog

When cocktail hour was over, we moved into the main ballroom for the entrees and desserts.

IMG_6956Blog

Madness!

AmbianceBlog

Mike had some killer beef sliders!

IMG_6953Blog

We went around the room and gathered samples to deposit back on the table. It was like an Easter egg hunt!

Ta-da!

IMG_6957Blog

So much to taste. I nibbled my way around the plates and actually didn’t get too full. My favorite bites were the Blue Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms and the Seafood Paella!

FOODBlog

I had a second half-ish glass of wine with dinner

IMG_6922Blog-2

The real fun always happens when the sun goes down and dessert starts.

IMG_6969Blog-2IMG_6965Blog-2

There were probably 10 desserts out there and I tasted half of them. Again – one bite! Except for the Giant Oreo, which won over my heart and got half eaten! The Key Lime Pie Goop (crumbles from pieces) was also pretty epic. I’m pretty sure I had 3 bites of that ; )

OreoBlog

We had much fun hanging out with Jess + Mike!

IMG_6978Blog

You’d think I’d be totally stuffed, but my whole goal tonight was to go to bed and be able to sleep on my stomach – mission accomplished!

I took today totally off from exercise – all that biking Thursday and Body Pump Friday and my body commanded a rest. I like to time my complete rest days with days with horrible weather that would make exercise hard anyways. Today was well planned since we had some KILLER storms this afternoon!

I spent all of today inside. Tomorrow – I move out!

Looks great! You and the food 🙂

But I don’t think you always need to “disclaim” how much you eat i.e. “one bite”, “not feeling full”, etc…it’s food, why not just enjoy and not have to explain it? Don’t know, NOT a big deal, so don’t take it the wrong way please!

I personally don’t see it as something she “explains”. That almost sounds negative. I see tons of comments asking Kath how to handle all the dinner parties, buffets, dessert bars, etc. It seems to me like less of a disclaimer and more of what works for her.. since its her food blog 🙂

Not meant to be negative! I apologize. Of course it’s her blog and she can say what she wants…whatever happened to free speech? 🙁 It is a simple comment in passing that I forgot about until you brought it up again…

So cool! I used to work for MACAA. This looks like a great event – SO yummy!

Also I need some of that pesto parmesan bread in my life.

You guys looked GORGEOUS! So did that pimento cheese — LOVE the spiced pecan addition. And I think I need one of those oreos. Stat.
