Make Me A Wich

Sandwichmaker, sandwichmaker, make me a wich!

IMG_8631Blog

Before we got elbow deep in sandwiches, we had a pow wow over coffee –

IMG_8591Blog

IMG_8594Blog

Eat local. Drink strong coffee.

Pickle wrapping!!

IMG_8590Blog

Prep for the day ahead

IMG_8595Blog IMG_8598Blog

Soon enough it was time to make sandwiches! We are serving the whole GH HQ office today plus some community members.

IMG_8606Blog

My first was a roast beef – condiments, meat, cheese

Intimidation

IMG_8612Blog

Veg!

IMG_8614Blog

Slice

IMG_8616Blog

Gorrrrgeous!

IMG_8620Blog

We quartered up a bunch and are delivering them to local businesses

IMG_8622Blog

Then it was time to make our own lunches

A KERF-style sandwich includes tons of veggies and lots of flava on Sunflower Wheat bread

IMG_8623Blog

I made one with swiss cheese, avocado, mustard, tomato, pepper, cuc, lettuce, S+P

IMG_8627Blog IMG_8628Blog

Do you know what makes the GH sandwiches so amazing? THE BREAD.

IMG_8625Blog

IMG_8629Blog

I wrapped mine into two separate halves with two pickles. I ate one half early (11:30) and am saving the second half for the afternoon – along with a pear.

IMG_8632Blog

Hope you all got to eat a delicious sandwich soon!

GH Honey Whole Wheat, for ever! It’s my fave, and I buy a loaf once a week. Hello, $20/month, but totally worth it. Yum, yum.

I feel like I should tell you about my favorite sandwich… It was from a great little grocery store where I used to live (and before I was dairy free)

Fabulous bread – hummus + gouda, (I think grainy mustard, it’s been awhile) LOADED with veggies + marinated artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. It was THE BEST sandwich I’ve ever had, and any time I go there, that is the FIRST place I stop.

OH YUM! I wish we had great harvest here, it looks fantastic!

Can you pllllllllease refrain on the oatmeal snobbery?! I make rolled oats in the microwave every day and they taste delish. They’re just as nutritious as the cooking method you advocate but I don’t have the avalanche of time you have to prep. While my oats are in the microwave, I can check my e-mails, run around getting ready for work, etc.

One from the Good Food Store in Missoula, MT! Go to any store with bulk bins and you should find some. They are usually all good!

Omg, those sandwiches look SO DELICIOUS. Please come open a great Harvest in Leesburg, Virginia! Haha.

Kath, I made the peanut noodles you posted the recipe for a month of so ago. Omg. Best peanut noodles EVER. My husband couldn’t believe he had eaten a meal that was basically vegan, haha. Thank you!!!

Your sandwich is pretty much exactly what I would have ordered, it looks so good. I cannot wait to visit my local GH, which I believe is the NH ones that your new friend are opening, score!

Smushed avocado is the ultimate sandwich topping! I always feel like something is missing if it’s not on my sandwich.

I wish I lived somewhere where coffee was grown so eating local could actually include strong coffee!
