Lunar Baby

[No he’s not here

Smile this !
  Sorry for the title!]

Foodblog-4620

Did you know there is a full moon on my due date? And not just any ole full moon – a BLUE moon!

I am always looking for the meaning in things. I was hoping for a birthday of 8.26.12 because 2+6 is 8 and 2×6 is 12 and of course I heart the number 26. But that numerology has come and gone, so when Matt and I got to talking about the moon cycle over dinner tonight I thought: How cool would it be for him to come on his due date, 40 weeks on the nose, on a blue moon and on KERF’s 5 year anniversary!

And then Matt brought up the fact that we danced to “Moon River” at our wedding. And I just about lost it!

Of course he can come whenever he wants, and even if he comes a few days before or after, he’ll be our lunar babe : ) Maybe he’ll love Goodnight Moon or want to be an astronaut! Maybe he’ll dance to “Blue Moon” at his wedding…

Foodblog-4614

We slacked on the meal plan this week and had to come up with something on the fly tonight. Requirement: tomatoes had to be involved.

Foodblog-4613

The main course was a No Bull Burger served on a fluffy Virginia roll bun. Gosh this was a great burger!! Slice ‘O cheddar cheese wedged in there.

Foodblog-4612

And on the side – a summer tomato salad!

Foodblog-4619

I combined the following and tossed them together: ~2 cups of sliced baby garden tomatoes, 1 cup frozen/thawed lima beans, the corn from 1 ear cut off the cob and about 1/3 cup crumbled goat cheese. The dressing was just 1 tbsp each of aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil plus a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Just realized now we forgot the basil!

Foodblog-4611

Delicious on all accounts.

Foodblog-4608

Afternoon snackage!

Foodblog-4607

Oh, and our doctor’s appointment went well. Nothing really new to note – just waiting patiently! Doctor says babe is in a good position. I actually have a really big day tomorrow involving a film crew of 3 flying in from NYC for this upcoming freelance project and then it’s all downhill for the rest of the week, month, year!

Aww, love that you have a Lunar Babe. That’s so sweet.

Excited to finally hear about this new project. When will we find out?!?! (Hey… If you had had the babe on the 26th, what would the film crew have done?)

Launch date is Sept. 17. It’s very exciting, but it’s nothing earth shattering 🙂

And they would have had to come another time – well after he was born! (They know I can go into labor at any minute)

Is there a specific date when you are going to tell us about the freelance project? Like maybe the day the baby comes… Or tomorrow? Lol.

I went into labor with my daughter on a blue moon! It was my easiest labor of all 4 of my kiddos. And, the L+D was FULL of other women in labor. There really is something to labor and full moons.

Isn’t amazing to think that little thing punching, rolling and kicking in your belly will get married some day? I can’t wait for you to meet that little one! I can confirm that as a mother of two boys (though I’m sure it’s the same for mothers of girls), parenting is challenging but so amazing and rewarding!

All my labor and delivery nurses all said that it is totally true that more women go into labor on full moons. Hope that’s true for you! Both of mine were late. Continue with the walking and sex until the time comes. 🙂 I guess there are worse things.

I had my fourth child 2 weeks late during a full moon. The hospital averages one birth a day.
That night, April 1, 1996, there were 10 births. I think you may get your full moon baby.
PS mine was 10 pounds 2 ounces…delivered vaginally, no medication before or during.
PPS My mother in law crocheted that exact same baby blanket made with pastel colored yarn for my first child born in 1986. Best of luck to all of you.

Of course Kath didn’t intend to imply that the birth of her son and parenthood would be disappointing compared to the freelance project; clearly, she threw out that term as a means of expressing that her schedule would be lighter after this obligation is met – sarcastically of course, given the monumental work involved in taking care of a newborn.
