Loved Breakfast, Hate My Computer

Gahhhhhh I need a new desktop computer!!! It has taken me almost 30 minutes to get to this point in blogging. I can get here in THREE minutes on my laptop. My desktop is 4 years old and soooooo slow. I defragmented a week ago and nothing changed. I have a few errors that come up everytime I restart. I don’t have the time or bravery to reinstall everything right now,  nor do I have the money to take it to a repair shop. I might have to just smash it in my backyard and revert to laptop only use. Oh, and the Eye-Fi is broken again, probably the computer’s fault.

But breakfast was amazing!!

We are out of fresh fruit so I reverted to frozen and was in a smoothie mood.

First I soaked a tbsp of chia seeds in some vanilla soy milk

IMG_9031 (1024x768)

Then I blended (for TWO servings)

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 cups frozen berries
  • 2 cups soy milk with the chia seeds
  • 1 packet Amazing Meal

Topped with hazelnut butter and AgavePlus granola. The hazelnut butter (Futter Butter’s brand) has a really earthy, grassy taste. I didn’t care that much for it on oats, but it rocked in this bowl!!

Dean + Deluca sent me some African red tea – it was awesome! Red tea has almost a natural sweetness that I love

IMG_9032 (1024x768)

Had to use my loose leaf strainer –

I made Matt the same breakfast and he commented a few times in between computer game noises how delicious it was –

Oh my gosh that looks AMAZING!

I’ve heard soaking the Chia Seeds was the best way to do it – but I never thought about doing it in soymilk! Holy yum!

Also I’ve determined that you and Matt should just open up a B&B in Charleston and then you can live there!! 🙂

Have you ever seen office space? When they smash the office equipment with the bat?! Hilarious. If you do it, please post pictures 🙂

    Kath,

I stumbled on your blog a few months ago after I decided to make some serious changes in my lifestyle and how I was taking care of myself. I hit the big 4-0 this year, and things needed to change! I love checking in with you everyday!

I am a tea drinker too, and I wantd to let you know about another African red tea that I recently discovered “Rooibos” — it is SO delicious with just a hint of vanilla. Just the smell is AMAZING! Tried it on vacation, and then scoured the stores here at home to find it!

Thanks for all of the daily inspiration to eat well and stay fit!

You need to make the leap and do the reinstall on your desktop computer. It’s not going to “just get better” and the current state is not workable and frustrating you. Once you get it done you’ll wonder why you just didn’t do it sooner. My laptop is in desperate need of a reinstall, but since I can get away with doing so much on the desktop computer I procrastinate and put it off. Just might be my Monday thing to do.

Sorry you are having computer issues. There is a free program called advanced system care that might help. There is a free version available on the internet. CC cleaner is a good free one as well, they can both run in the background while you keep working.

    Your breakfast looks awesome!

Let me see if I have this right, based on the pictures on today’s post. You are struggling with doing WORK on your desktop computer, while Matt is playing GAMES on the much faster laptop? And then you make him breakfast, as a reward for his hogging the laptop?

Do I have that right? 🙂

I added a bunch of memory to my desktop a few years ago and now it works pretty well. It’s from 2002, so really old. You might want to consider doing that to save from buying a new computer. I asked about it at Best Buy.

    RachelD ,
I believe it came from my grandmother’s house, but you can get them all over. Check World Market and Target.

    Christina,
Thanks for reading, and I love rooibos tea too!

    Megan (The Runner’s Kitchen),
There are too many factors to really tell, but this morning’s bowl held me over very well.

    Vince ,
    That’s what I thought…

    Richard ,
    HA – yes!

    Allie M.,
Yes, I do. When it works, it’s GOLDEN! I don’t know if my problems are my firewall or computer or the card itself but I’ve tried so many things. I think the technology will only improve, so hopefully you’ll have less problems than me.

Have you looked into adding more RAM to your computer?

My desktop is about 6 years old and was running SUPER SLOW…I tried a bunch of clean-up tools, defragmenting, etc. and nothing helped. Then I bought 512 MB more memory (it’s uber easy to install–just clip it in place) and ta-da…it’s MUCH FASTER!! It’s still not as fast as my laptop, but it’s a HUGE HUGE HUGE improvement. I’d recommend looking into adding more memory as your next step. My computer only holds 1GB total, but if yours could hold 2 GB, that’d be even better/faster! Hope that helps! 🙂
