Little Of This And That…

Komen Race Update

A HUGE thank you to

VeggieGirl
Jill at Glossy Veneer
RhodeyGirl
Deb. H
Melisa R.

We’re up to $130!!! And Melisa is going to run with us (YAY!!)!! Those of you considering making the trip to join us, how about an invitation for pre-race KERF oatmeal at our house early morning as incentive! Or a post-race lunch on homemade bread?!

Current TV

I am honored to have been contacted by Current TV, the world’s leading peer-to-peer news and information network, for a feature story on the blog. The producer would love some of your thoughts and comments as regular readers to include with the piece. Here’s where you can share them:

A Little Activity

Mid-morning I rode my bike to the gym, did 35 minutes on the ET with Shape Magazine, did a round of upper body lifting plus some squats and push-ups, and biked back. I also mopped the kitchen floor – with distilled vinegar! Thanks to those of you who shared the tip – it seems to have worked much better than most of my other cleaning methods!

Homph Gomph

A tribute to Homer Simpson, the husband and I have referred to filling meals as “homph gomph” since our freshman year of college

 this !

Today I had a little of this and that –

Turkey + swiss open-faced melt on homemade spelt bread (fresh out of the oven at 11pm last night!)

DSC02873

A tasting plate of pickle, greens beans (surprisingly good raw!), dragon plum sliced (I ate 2 as I was cutting it), another strange plum with a green interior, and a mix of Kashi Cheddar and Honey Sesame. I like the cheddar, but not as much as the grainier ones.

DSC02871

Plus a Chobani Strawberry. Liked it a lot!

Off to run errands by bike 🙂

I am new to reading your blog and I love it! I am a food science grad student who is doing research involving adding oat fiber to yogurt and people think im crazy for eating oatmeal and yogurt everyday! Its great to see someone with the same passions. I also have lost 100 pounds so Im fully on board to a healthy lifestyle!

Just a question. I decided to put cinnamon on my greek yogurt today and it was the best!! Have you ever tired that combo? If not I recommend it!

Congrats on the Current TV spot.
I LOVE raw green beans. Comes from growing up with my parents having a big garden and picking them fresh out of the garden and eating them. Yummy!
Your lunch plate looks great. I often end up eating just a hodge podge of things.

Current TV is great. its so new and upcoming and deals with issues that young people want to talk about. everything on their website is actually voted on by the people on there. so whatever makes it as the top story of the hour is because of the people that vote on it. so you should rally and get to be the number one story

Hey Kath, thanks for your class list. I must admit I am curious what you have to say about Organic Chem this semester, it’s on my schedule for spring semester and I am pretty much terrified of it! :O

    Good luck!

    Hi Kath (and everyone else!!)

I’ve been reading for awhile, but have never commented! Just wanted to say hello – I just posted for the CurrentTV, too. Congrats, Kath!

I wish I could come to NC for the race! PA is so far away sometimes..!!

    val ,
Welcome to KERF!! Food science – cool!! I have put cinnamon in a lot of things, but I don’t use it as much in the summer. Thanks for the reminder!

    Ali ,
Haha – I sure hope so!

    jimmi ,
    *Kath blushes*

    melisa ,
Awesome!! So glad you joined the team. I told Matt we can make a big pot of oats, but we’ll have to eat them at 5 or 6 to digest in time!

    DaisyMay ,
Cool you’ve heard of it – thanks for the background!
