Last Four Standing

IMG_9124-2Blog

This really was such a neat day!! Our customers came in flocks this morning and then thinned out by afternoon and by 4pm it was a ghost land – time to close! I really did feel like the end of college exams – saying goodbye for a month of Christmas Break freshman year! “See you next year!”

[Go, Alex, Go!]

IMG_9126-2Blog

It took us a looooooong time to get everything all cleaned and tidy for a week off – including removing all things perishable AND packaging up everything that was left for donation.

IMG_9127-2Blog

Our last stop of the night was a visit to the local food bank where we took two HUGE bins of leftover loaves of bread, treecakes, cookie packs, tons of rolls and seven pecan pies. So glad we were able to help out in this way.

Not a crumb to be found!

Once we were back home, we ventured across the street to take our neighbors a big box of sweets. We have the most darling family as neighbors!! They invited us in for snacks and drinks while their kids had dinner and prepped for Santa’s arrival. It certainly made our Christmas Eve more special.

We had mackerel (which was like a giant sardine – loved it!) on crackers, a taste of gluten-free sweet potato muffins and guac made with fresh ginger and lime juice that I must recreate!

Back at home, we were thrilled to hear Seamane and Rob were coming over for more socializing – and bringing homebrews! I set out some snacks to nibble on – Matt and I weren’t really all that hungry for a big dinner. Christmas Eve is a time to nibble anyways!

We sipped homebrews and some kombucha

IMG_3394Blog

And ended the night with this HILARIOUS You Tube video and Seamane’s homemade almond-raspberry macarons, which tasted just like wedding cake in a cookie!

And Matt in his ‘kerchief, and I in my cap – say goodnight!

Now all we need is a picture of Matt in his kerchief, and you and your cap, settling in for a long winter’s night. Merry Christmas to you!

I love that you bring the extra bread and sweets to the food bank. 🙂

And after seeing that orange, my mouth is watering for one. Good thing there’s one waiting for me for breakfast in the morning. 🙂

I can’t believe you posted…you are dedicated! Thank you for that, too!

“Seamane’s homemade almond-raspberry macarons, which tasted just like wedding cake in a cookie!” <– My grandma made these sandwich cookies with raspberry in the middle that was like a dainty, delicate dough on the outside…they were so fussy and hard to make and I could gobble a dozen like nobody's business as a kid. I would love to sink my teeth into one of Seamane's creations. She always has the best stuff!
