It’s Darkest Before Dawn

I would know

Foodblog-4557

My crazy mind was up at 5 this morning!! I consider 5am to be a normal wake-up time. 4:55am is crazy insomnia. Thus, although I didn’t get a full-night’s rest, I’m doing ok this morning.

I felt like my mom getting up before the sunrise, making tea, wrapping up my granola bars, doing some dishes and then making an early breakfast. Hard to believe I will be a real mom any day now!

Foodblog-4565

I woke up starving and made a half-cup portion of whipped banana oatmeal with cottage cheese stirred in at the end of cooking. Matt’s portion is patiently waiting for him when he rises! I topped it with some crumbles of my AnneP bars that I froze and of course, sunflower butter.

Foodblog-4558

Wake-me-up tea

Foodblog-4561Foodblog-4554

I have such fun watching the Morning Glories! They are wide awake at dawn and tightly shut at dusk. I’ll try to snap a photo of them tonight!

Foodblog-4566

No signs of labor, although I think my Braxton Hicks have become a bit more noticeable in the past 24 hours.

One good thing if the baby didn’t come today. He wouldn’t have the same bday as snooki’s baby!

Not sure about this, but doesn’t cooking the chia seeds alter the healthy EFA’s they contain? I know that is true for flax and why they recommend stirring it in at the end.

It’s possible, although I doubt the oatmeal gets all that hot since I don’t let it boil or anything. I eat them more for texture, protein, fiber than EFAs since ALA’s conversion rate is so small. I eat fish for my EFAs 🙂

I had timeable contractions every night for a little over a week. Every night I thought…maybe this is it…go to bed and nada. Annoying.
My midwife told me, if you think you are in labor take two Tylenol pm, drink 20oz of water, and take a bath. If you are in labor…contractions will continue, if you aren’t…you’ll be asleep!

Love the cozily wrapped belly shot! I hear you on the up-too-early front – horrible night sleep over here.

I’m glad to have some rain in the forecast as I need an incentive to stay inside and get things done today. Have a nice Sunday, Kath.

The 4 days before labor I had a ton of Braxton hicks contractions for the first time all pregnancy. I was visiting a new friends baby and had to breathe thru them when my friend said maybe those aren’t braxton hicks anymore! Lol. So exciting I hope he comes soon!

Try to be gentle with yourself. I was ten days past my due date with both of my kids. And even after having my first child, and knowing that being late was not only a possibility, but a reality, I still let my expectations/desires for an early delivery get the best of me. I, like you, am a planner. And I prefer to be in control. You will find that labor is the first reminder that you are no longer calling all of the shots, Kath. Good time to practice going with the flow. 🙂

Everybody at church asked how you were! Alex L was back with his brand new baby boy (and wife and daughter.) Hannah wanted to have him on the 17th because it was her grandma’s birthday. She went into labor at four in the afternoon and made it on the 17th. So there’s hope for today and your lucky number. (It was her second baby though.)

If my mind was awake at 5:00AM, I would definitely force myself to try to go back to sleep. If 5:00AM was my body’s wake-up call, I probably would not be able to function during the day.
