Ice, Ice Baby

Breakfast went from hot –> cold

 this !

IMG_2182 (640x427)

Today I used my last RUSH bowl from the beautiful state of Colorado. I believe these are now available in select Whole Foods.

IMG_2173 (640x427)

This was the Acai Beach – made with acai, mango, banana and guava juice.

IMG_2174 (640x427)

Nuke 30 seconds –> stir –> Nuke 30 seconds –> SIAB

IMG_2175 (640x427)

I layered in some Organic Valley Yogurt  for extra protein and a few banana slices for chew. Plus the granola that comes with it!

IMG_2181 (640x427)

IMG_2186 (640x427)

And a blob of Nuttzo PF for satiety 🙂

IMG_2188 (640x427)

IMG_2180 (640x427)

Backside 😳

IMG_2185 (640x427)

Awake! I wanted some coffee, but since my smoothie was dish-clean free, I kept the beverage that way too.

IMG_2178 (640x427)

As I was chewing I realized this breakfast was quite higher in calorie than my usual breakfast – maybe even over 600? I’m curious to see if it holds me over any longer than normal.

IMG_2177 (640x427)

Buddha Bowls are back in stock!

But this time the color combo is SNOWPEA and PACIFIC. (Those of you who ordered them since being back in stock, I’m not sure you knew this yet – but please contact OpenSky customer service if the colors are a problem)

Happy Thurs!

I love that you’re eating out of a [pint?] glass – so cool!! I find a decent bowl or plate or whatever automatically makes my meal 10 x tastier :p

Do you slip a little powdered creativity into your morning teas or is it all natural? 😉

And I wish I had the money to get those Buddha bowls, they’re so neat! Gotta save up my money for studying in Greece for three weeks though (culinary journalism!!). If you ever get an extra shipment sent to your house on accident and they say you can keep them I’ll be glad to help you make some room, haha!

    Have a great day!

Your breakfasts always look delicious! I love that you and I both eat and drink out of beer pint glasses/mugs all the time. We have a plethora of them at my house- perhaps Matt and Isaac should do a trade sometime. Maybe once you all are in VA. 🙂

Hope you have a good day!

Those Buddha bowls are SO cute! Interesting about your b-fast being more calorie dense, it doesn’t actually seem like it would be. Maybe with the granola and yogurt added to it, though.

Wait… wouldn’t that be cold -> hot? If the cold yogurt’s on top of the nuked smoothie? Or am I just confused… 😛

Looks like a wonderful breakfast! Nothing like a big, yummy breakfast to start the day. And you know that they say – breakfast like a king, lunch like a (insert catchy term for “normal person” here), and dinner like a beggar! High-calorie breakfasts are a good way to start the day. 😀

Hope you have a great one! 🙂

I will be interested to see if it holds you over as well. I tried all the glorious nut butter/oat mixes for breakfast and they were amazing but even with the increased calories and fat I was still hungry in a few hours. (SIGH) I had to go back to my egg white omelets that seem to hold me over just as long with a lot less cals. I’m so jealous of all my fellow bloggies that can eat high calories for breakfast and still lose weight.

It is a trade off but I usually eat less snacks and dinners. I don’t want to give up my breakfasts, so I have less in other areas.

I agree with Dawn above. I’ve since stopped adding nut butters to my oats, and I’ve been keeping the toppings to a minimum as well to keep calories down. I have a piece or two of egg white frittata on the side, and my breakfast comes to 400 calories and keeps me just as full. I’m trying to lose weight, so the extra calories and fat added by the nut butter and toppings, even though good calories, were inhibiting my efforts, I think. I wish I could eat a 600 calorie breakfast, but I find that I eat the same later in the day. It just shows that we are all so different!

Even if that breakfast is higher in calorie than usual, it would never fill ME up. I think that is so interesting about foods- while a calorie is a calorie, different foods can affect us in different ways. A grain + pb + a serving of fruit always keeps me full from breakfast to lunch, but if I change any one of those components I am starving by 10:30 AM. I wonder if it is mental, if my body is just used to a certain type of breakfast, or if there is real science behind it. Could be all three…

    Have a great day!
