I Got Them All Cut

What do you think?! I feel much more stylish 8) I went to Michelle’s aunt (who came highly recommended by Michelle) and am totally happy. I was nervous at first, but she did an awesome job! Let’s hope my styling skills are as good as hers 😉

And check out this tiny bell pepper growing in our garden!!

DSC02604

We were supposed to have a London broil steak for dinner tonight (something new for me!), but it didn’t thaw out in time, so we had to go to a back-up plan: Salmon Burgers. This required a quick bike to HT for buns and cheese. I don’t understand why all of the buns in the whole store have HFCS or a list of ingredients a mile long, but I came home with my best option:

DSC02605

Salmon patty (from Trader Joe’s) with melted extra sharp cheddar (from a block form) plus some pickle slices and cilantro pesto –

DSC02607

Grilled peppers with a little Smart Balance

DSC02609

Grilled corn on the cob –

DSC02610

And yummy grilled zucchini

We watched the Men’s Gymnastic’s Final tonight – it was nerve wracking!

And for a little fun – some photos of us from freshman year at Davidson that the husband scanned tonight!

Me doing the “Old Man Frog Dance”

Me and the hub on Self Selection Night (don’t ask!). And I don’t think the question is: “What was I thinking?!” I think it should be “What was I drinking!?” Blech!

And the year he went as a trashcan for Halloween!

Your hair looks great! I just got my hair cut today too but it is very difficult for me because I have very curly hair so I get so nervous before I go..
Those pics are hysterical.. I just found pics of myself from college where i gained like the freshman 30 and I could not even tell it was me… it was hard for me to even look at the pictures… but also makes me glad I came into a healthy lifestyle!

Love the new cut-the layers give it a little more “shape” it looks like! I love when I get my hair cut…it just looks/feels so fresh and new! And my curls tend to curl a little better, too! Too bad I’m not due for another one anytime soon… :/

I like your hair a lot. It looks really good. I got mine cut last week. I hadn’t had it cut since March of 2007. I went in and told the stylist that I wanted Miranda, Season 6 Sex and the City – took a picture and everything. What I got was Flo, the diner waitress from the old show TV show, Alice. I got in the car, took one look and went completely hysterical. I didn’t say anything to the stylist, I just paid and left. I knew I had to keep it together because otherwise I was going to look insane. I cried all the way home, tugging and pulling at my hair as if to somehow magically make it grow back. It didn’t help that when I walked in the door, my boyfriend took one look at me and burst out laughing. He still apologizes about that, but I couldn’t blame him. I know I looked absurd with my teased hair pulled in ninety directions, tears and mascara streaming down my face, sobbing about what had happened. Needless to say, the whole experience made me a little gun-shy about getting my hair cut. I had to though because I had major split ends. I’m okay now, but it was traumatic. Relatively speaking, of course.

Cute hair…I SO need a haircut. I’m at the point that the only way I think it looks good is in a low ponytail but I’m so close to donating length that I might keep growing it.

A hint for thawing things quickly that my mom just told me about…place it on an aluminum pan (they use their griddle pan). It works wonders!

Would you recommend the TJ’s salmon burgers? They certainly look good covered in melty cheese!

I agree with you about the buns, too. It seems all breads these days, with the exception of the whole grain and organic breads, contain fortified flours, hfcs, and lots of other junk. I always buy whole grain breads, usually organic, and never ever anything with fortified flours!

I try to watch out for HFCS, too, and I have also found that it is next to impossible to find hamburger buns without it. One day I literally read the label on EVERY brand of buns at the store and the only one I found without HFCS was Martin’s Potato Bread. They sell regular and whole wheat bread, hamburger buns and hotdog buns, and they’re really very good.
I don’t know if they sell it in your area, but it’s worth a look.

How were the TJ salmon burgers? I’ve tried the ones at Harris Teeter and was not impressed. Also, please settle an argument for me. My husband insists that corn is a vegetable, but I always count it as a starch. Which is it?

    sirenjess + C,
I love both of those buns but HT doesn’t have them and we didn’t want to drive anywhere 🙁

    caitlinbo ,
Yesssss – I believe it was pudding!

    Poor you Jenny!

    nat ,
Only if I’m really hungry. I learned this summer 1) That most of the time I’m just thirsty and a few gulps of water tides me well until breakfast and 2) That workouts less than 90 minutes don’t need any kind of snack so if you don’t need it for physical reasons, just skip it.

    Saima ,
We’re on the DVR schedule 🙂

    Michelle ,
I eat everything unless otherwise noted, yes.

    Blondie ,
    Yes!! SAE 🙂

    cindy ,
    I haven’t tried it yet!

    Rachel ,
Either would work! “Proven Strategies” is the one I read, but it sounds like the other is newer.

    one food guy,
Yes, I’d recommend them. They seem to just be a slab of fish (no veggies or mix-ins).

    Andrea ,
nooooo! I was told a few weeks ago I looked sixteen!! Does that mean I look 11 now!?
