I drank a 6 pack

What do you do when 5 O’clock hits and you want a drink but not the buzz?

You drink a 6 pack of KERFweiser, or KERF Light!

1 splash IPA, 90% sparkling water*.

IMG_9647Blog

*Note this process is best if you have both in kegs in the basement!

I was going to go to the grocery store today, but then I realized that we just have to survive 1 dinner, 1 breakfast and 1 lunch before we have a dinner out and then we can go to the farmer’s market! So We’re stretching it!

I got this can of clam chowder for Christmas from my Maryland friends, and I’ve been saving it for a night when we need a pantry staple dinner.

IMG_9650Blog

I am also lucky that our garden is the only thing that liked this week’s rain

IMG_9649Blog

And that I had chickpeas in the fridge and lima beans in the freezer!

IMG_9651Blog

All simmered together and we have a delicious soup in 10 minutes

IMG_9658Blog

IMG_9668Blog

Matt had to meet an installation guy at the bakery tonight, so I dined solo 🙁

IMG_9662Blog

Cubes of High Five on the side. I can’t have soup without some kind of dry carb on the side!

IMG_9665BlogIMG_9664Blog

That brew..

IMG_9666Blog

IMG_9654Blog

And with that I’m off to watch Property Virgins – my new favorite HGTV show! What’s your favorite HGTV show? Obviously nothing can top House Hunters, so what’s your second favorite?

HGTV takes a way 2nd fiddle to Bravo for me. I admit to loving all the Real HW’s series, Millionaire Matchmaker, Million dollar realtor show, and oh, the E Channel and reality tv on that. But I watch sooo little tv, honestly. I mean, after all, I have a blog and read blogs. there’s no TIME for tv. lol.

    – “And does the hot tub come with the house?”
ME : “Yes – wouldn’t it would be great for your morning coffee?”

    – “I really like the tile work in this bathroom:

I like House Hunters (especially the before and after at the end, which you don’t get with Property Virgins and My First Place), but it’s a little unrealistic how they can just choose one of three houses and it’s theirs. They don’t show the negotiation or anything. What if they are outbid and don’t get it? Or what if the inspection goes badly? You always get a happy ending. On Property Virgins, sometimes they don’t even end up buying a place!

This totally ruined House Hunters for me, but I’ve heard that it’s fake.

They basically buy a house and THEN tour it like it’s on the market before they move in. And then they tour two more similar houses that are still on the market. So they know which one they bought from the start!!

Now that I know that insider info, watching it is not as fun 🙁

Wow, I had no idea! That explains a lot though.

I love the beer idea! I’m going to try that. The soup looked pretty darn tasty too.

Oops! I forgot to mention my favorite HGTV shows. I love HH and Property Virgins as you stated. I also like Color Splash, and What’s my House Worth?. All good things!

I was a design assistant on “my first place”, the homeowner’s moved stuff in and were hanging out well before we started the design process, it’s not fake but the timeline isn’t as it seems! And the budget is a little too stingy!! But still a fun show!

      That is SO COOL!

I know, though, the MFP acting isn’t the finest of quality 🙂

Speaking of stingy, I always wonder how much My First Place spends on the gift at the end. Sometimes it’s awesome (like a washer & dryer), other times it kinda sucks (like a dart board). And in some of the more recent ones “your friends at HGTV” don’t even give a gift at all!

    Another great looking soup!
I don’t watch much HGTV but I’d like to find a good “my house is so tiny, here’s how I made it better” kind of show. Would help me in my downtown studio!
