Housewarming, Bedwarming

I made great progress on my projects after my lunch post today! I managed to squeeze in my Micro final project and got it 85% complete. Just a little more in the AM. This upcoming week is going to be nuts, but after Thursday it’s all downhill until finals!

While I was working on my project (and the husband was at EF) I had a bowl of leftover soup. No, this is NOT OATMEAL!! But I did have a spoonful of PB with it! I’ll give you a hint – the base was potato – and I just thought PB sounded good. But to be honest, I think it was just because the soup does look a lot like oats

 this !

It was so nice just to have a heat-n-eat dinner.

Heat, eat, and toast that is –

Guess who got a celebrity sighting today!?!? The HUSBAND!! He was working at EarthFare and a woman recognized him from the blog!! Hi N’Wanda!!! (Hope I spelled that right….!)

I picked the husband up after work at 7:30 and we headed up to a friend’s house for a housewarming party! My friend, Graham, moved to Charlotte this summer and bought the cutest bungalow! He grew up across the street from me in Hillsborough 🙂

DSC05957

The husband had about…oh…..6 beers? I had about 4 sips throughout the night, but I was the driver and didn’t really have a drinking urge either. I also had about 4 pita chips!

DSC05955

My friend and Winthrop classmate Kelsey joined us for the party – she enjoyed the keg with the husband!

The ride home was kind of scary. First I had like 5 cars zip past me violently (what’s wrong with drivers these days!?) and we were in an unfamiliar part of the city (OK, I just typed SITY, what’s wrong with me this week!?). Then we got stuck waiting on this train on the way there and the way home. Bummer!

DSC05960

OK, that wraps up my day! I’m reading to go get cozy in bed. I could easily go have a midnight snack but I’m supposed to be asleep so off to bed I go.

Sounds like funny! Interesting addition of peanut butter to your oats.

I hate the train!! It’s really bad in my town. It can seriously put the town on hold if is really long!

WHEN you win the quaker oatmeal contest and you get to come to Colorado, it would be great to meet up… especially since we BOTH missed Bella Chere this year!

That bowl totally DOES look like oatmeal, that’s hilarious. I don’t know if I could get my head around trying pb with soup… I think I’d be willing to attempt it though!

I second Amandamoo, we here in Colorado would LOVE to have you. Colorado will blow you away!

On a personal note, Kath you and Jenna (eat, live, run) have played a huge role in shaking me out of an eating disorder that was getting to be pretty dangerous. By reading how you two integrate fitness and nutrition into your lives without going nuts has been a huge eye opener for me. Oh, and the part that it can be FUN and you can enjoy your life and relationships without being afraid was a huge lesson learned as well. Thank you so much for all you do. I hope you know how special you are and how blessed we are to get to learn from you.
While I’m at it, I’m off to let Jenna know she’s incredible too.

    Thank you so much.

    LaughingLindsay,
I’m right there with you on that one!! Some of the other food blogs “trigger” me, for some reason, but I know that I can always rely on Kath and Jenna to provide a voice of reason. It’s really helped me to see how they plan ahead with meals and don’t ever skip them (that’s KEY for me, I’ve figured out…).
I’m still amazed that something so “simple” as eating can be soooo difficult for me to get the hang of, but it’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one who struggles with it!
Ditto on the thank you’s, and keep it up!!

    Hi Kath:

This is Nwa’ndo – the woman who recognized your husband at EF!! I told him I’ve been a lurker for a very long time but had never commented; this is my first comment.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your blog – I read it daily, and it has made a huge impact on me. I love to eat, and your blog inspires me to want to learn more about cooking and eating healthy real food!!! Thank you!!!
