A Horse Is A Horse Of Course, Of Course

We had such a fun weekend OUTSIDE! The weather was great, and we packed in a lot of fun activities.

On Friday Mazen didn’t have school, so we walked downtown and met Thomas for lunch at Rev Soup. The Gulf Salad is always my favorite! Plus a few bites of Mazen’s spinach and cheese quesadilla 😉

Post lunch ice cream treat!

Mazen spent Friday night with Matt, and we headed out to the Struckmanns’ for a bonfire.

T and I had dinner at Keswick Hall’s bar beforehand.

We shared the mussels to start.

And I had a kale salad with salmon on top. Ate every last bite!

Dessert was s’mores with giant marshmallows!!

On Saturday morning I had a quick breakfast before heading out to pick up Mazen and take him to his first soccer practice of the season!

He did really well, and he’s definitely getting a better feel for the game.

We had lunch at home. Salad for me!

After lunch we joined a bunch of friends – and pretty much all of Charlottesville – at King Family Vineyard for the afternoon.

We rode the pretend horse three times, petted one of the beautiful polo horses, and played with the cutest little puppy named Annie!

We drove back to town to reset and headed to a friend’s house for a cookout.

So much great food!

Mazen was overheard calling his new friend “honey!”

On Sunday I played in 1.5 soccer games, so I fueled up with this bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.

New cleats!!

Hope y’all are thawing out too!

What a fun weekend! It was so beautiful here (in Austin) too. We had a super busy weekend full of projects, but managed to get outside some in between!

The vineyard looks really fun! The horse photos remind me of my eight years of horse-riding days…I miss them so much!

I just wanna scoop Annie up!

I don’t know who this new “honey” is, but I”m sure “Saya” would have something to say about that! 😉

Looks like you had a super busy weekend! I have to say that I’m incredibly jealous of your weather. We’re still recovering from Stella in these parts. Although the weather has warmed up, the snow remains and now the forecast is calling for ice rain which will make the situation even more fun 😉

Ah what a beautiful weekend! I wish I could get away there. I used to ride horses when I was younger. Totally eyeing the s’mores dessert!

If I could have one food every day it would be that bacon egg and cheese sandwich, sooooo goood. Nice to see Mazen is taking after his momma in soccer! He looks so cute in those pastels, so preppy ha ha !

Oh your weather (and weekend) look fabulous! We’re still stuck with cold, dreary weather in Boston but we’re getting closer to spring!!

Kath, this is unrelated but I learned something this weekend that I thought you might find cool, too, since I know you love foamy milk in your coffee and you love mason jars. I was searching for ways to make lattes at home, and I didn’t want to have to buy any equipment (we don’t really have the space). I thought foamy milk would be impossible to do at home without a machine, but I learned this cool trick. You can put some milk in a mason jar (less than half full), screw on the lid, shake it hard for 30-60 seconds, remove the lid, and then pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and it comes out perfectly foamy! I just use a big spoon to hold the foam back while I pour the milk into my coffee, and then I let the foam out on top. It’s amazing and so easy 🙂 Just wanted to share because I couldn’t help thinking of you!

I think I remember reading this when I was researching foam, but I already had the tools on hand. So glad to hear it works!

Speaking of horses, I won an auction for a free 1 hour private horse riding lesson on Friday!

    Any tips?
