Hazelnut Joy

It’s been a while since I opened this jar of Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter – August to be precise. (And I’ve had it in my pantry for even longer – a sample from Justin himself!)

Every time I think about chocolate for breakfast I pass – it just doesn’t hit my cravings at that time of day.

But every time I eat this stuff, I am reminded how amazing it is!

IMG_7313Blog

Today was the grand finale with oats in a jar

IMG_7292Blog

Amped up with coconut and pretzel!! Two fabulous chocolate combos

IMG_7294Blog

The Mix

  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • Milk, water, half banana, pinch salt, vanilla, cinnamon
  • ~5 crushed pretzels
  • 2 tbsp sweetened coconut
  • And that delicious creamy choco hazelnut!

IMG_7302Blog

And now that it’s gone, I want more!

IMG_7311BlogIMG_7299Blog

I’m writing up my recipe this morning and have multiple dates for the afternoon.

Joy!

Baah I was ever so slightly disappointed by the chocolate Justin’s 🙁 I got SO excited when i was in the states, and stocked up on squeezy packs (jars too heavy) – yet I’ve had one, and am very meh about the rest 🙁 SO sad!
    Have a fab day 🙂

I’m pretty sure the best oatmeal I’ve ever had was overnight oats in a Nutella jar (with just banana, yogurt, milk, oats, and topped with a little granola). I’m salivating at the thought!

I eye that Choco/Hazelnut butter everytime I go to Earthfare. I have never tried it (they don’t carry it in the squeezy pack there), but loooove Nutella (but don’t eat it anymore), so I am certain I would love this too. The only think that has stopped me from buying it is the $10.99 price tag. But, that might have to change. Soon. 🙂

Well there are many varieties of OIAJ

One version is hot. You make oats on the stovetop as usual and pour them into the jar when they are done (if it’s a plastic jar, let cool for a few minutes first). The nut butter melts into the oatmeal.

The other version is overnight. You put oats, milk, yogurt, banana, etc into a jar and put in fridge overnight. This is my favorite version of OIAJ because the sticky doughy oats make eating the sticky nut butter more fun in my mouth!

I love Justin’s! I have no idea where this company came from but suddenly I’m seeing the individual packets everywhere. Though when I think hazelnut I automatically think Nutella….

This is kind of funny. I gave my fourth grader a packet of Justin’s and an apple as part of her lunch one day, figuring it would be fun for her to spread the peanut butter on the apple (if I recall it was the honey peanut butter variety.) Well, I got a note home saying the plastic knife (picnic type) I sent with her is not allowed because it could be a weapon! There is apparently NO type of spreading tool acceptable at her school. They only allow food that can be eaten with spoons and she told me she doesn’t want to spread her PB with a spoon. Funny, huh? So now I pre-spread for her and wrap it in foil.
