Happy Thoughts

IMG_0724

I went to bed thinking happy thoughts about a big bowl of cold, crunchy cereal last night.

IMG_0732

So this morning’s breakfast assembly was a no brainer: WF Honey Bunches, half a banana, chia seeds, raisins, and creamy milk.

IMG_0725IMG_0726

Plus two giant glasses of H2O – soooo thirsty in the mornings!

IMG_0730

Have a happy day!

Your breakfast looks so simple yet so delicious and nutritious. Cereal definitely doesn’t have to be bland or boring with a few fun additions. Where did you get your bowl? Happy Wednesday wishes to you too!

I have a thing about soggy cereal. I don’t know if I could handle setting up such good shots of my bowl of cereal without it getting soggy.

That’s funny – I woke up with cheerios on my mind but I didn’t have enough milk so I had to go oats instead! Love the raisins addition to the mix 🙂

Breakfast sets the tone for the day! I look forward to it the most! One of my favourite breakfasts as a kid was Weetabix…I would soak two pieces of Weetabix in milk and then mix it all up sprinkled with Demerra sugar…like a cold oatmeal or let them float in the milk like ‘boats’…just like my mom did when she was a little girl in England. In the winter, I would warm the milk and then add the Weetabix…that really brought out all it’s yummy flavour! Have you ever tried Weetabix? I know I used to have to bring it over the border when I visited my american friend…she fell in love with it when she lived her for a few years.

That’s really interesting about the Weetabix… I just bought some for the first time and mixed it with some other cereals. It turned to complete mush and I was not a fan (I do like it dry over yogurt though).
BUT, i like your idea of soaking it and sprinkling sugar on top I’ll have to try that!!

I used to have happy thoughts about cereal when I was letting myself eat those with cartoon characters on the front… Now that it’s 4 grams of sugar or less the thoughts are less happy.

I know I’ve said it before, but I have that exact same bowl (I think I found it at Marshall’s). Though I have about 30 different bowls, I prefer that one over the rest. I went to get it out of the cabinet this weekend and it had a huge chip in it! I was heartbroken. Time to go find another!

Hi Kath! Well you introduced me to something new again that I love now!! So remember the first is avocado (because of the nachos), but now it’s nut butter. Right now all I have it just Peter Pan crunchy. But this is where the “NEW” like comes in. I added it to my oatmeal. I did it awhile back with some fresh strawberry slices. It was like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. But I still added my normal brown sugar. Well today I dared to be different! I just added the P-nut butter and guess what!?! NO SUGAR! Nope not once single granular of the sweet white stuff. I know there is sugar in the p-nut butter, but that was major for me. It tasted just like a peanut butter oatmeal cookie. So thank you again, for making my taste buds enjoy this new healthy lifestyle!

Breakfast looks delicious! I always put add ins in my oatmeal (what I went to sleep thinking about for breakfast this morning) but not as much in my cereal. The banana and raisin combo sounds great!

Hey! My name is Laura and I am knew to your blog. I am very interested to read the blog of a registered dietitian. I have been thinking about going back to school to get a degree in it, but it is such a huge commitment…..I’m not sure. There are just SO many varying thoughts about nutrition out there….plus it is something that would keep me interested for work.

Do you mind to give me your professional opinion? 🙂

So every morning I wake up and do about 35 minutes of yoga. Then here is my breakfast every weekday:

3 egg whites scrambled with spinach, topped with hot sauce and organic salsa
2 slices of wheat bread (which I just started getting from the farmer’s market! yay to no preservatives!). Recently I have been topping it with about a TBSP of pumpkin butter and sprinkling it with cinnamon. SO good with my coffee. That is at about 5:00

At 8:30-9:00 I have 1/2 a cup of plain, nonfat greek yogurt w/1/2 a cup of chopped fruit and a granola bar (again, homemade…really trying to stay away from preservatives)

I’m SO confused as to whether I eat enough or too little because I really have issues losing any weight. I do anywhere from 30 minutes – 2 hours of workout a day. I mix it up a lot but my passion is running.

Check out my blog if you have some time. It needs work, but I just started it:-)

Haha I had the opposite thought! I started thinking about cereal so much before bed that I had to pour myself a bowl. I feel like it would have tasted better had I let the anticipation simmer overnight 😉

    Hi Kath,
Looks good! What are chia seeds and where do you find them
    In a grocery?

They are seeds like flax seeds that have protein and omega-3s, among other nutrients. They are fun for their texture and gelling ability. Look for them in the bulk bins at Whole Foods and health stores
