It looks like your overnight oats are definitely a winner based on your score card! I’ve been wanting them lately, but I keep forgetting to prepare them before I hit the hay. I need to write myself a note for tonight!

I just can’t get on board with the cold oatmeal, lol 🙂 I did make Overnight Oats a few times with about 15 second warm up in the microwave, which was okay, hehe

I’ve also struggled with acclimating to cold oatmeal – I think I’ll try slow cooker oatmeal soon though!

Yesss frozen berries! My favorite super-convenient yogurt addition. I have three bags in the freezer right now, especially good for packed lunches (if you have a super leak proof container, of course).

I’m warming up to the overnight oats…no pun intended! It can’t be beat for the convenience; I’m just working out to get it just as I like it. I’ve tried it a couple of times but, being lactose intolerant, I find the taste of the soy yogurt I use too overpowering. So I’ve started adding a little bit less yogurt (and may leave it out in the next try) and some more flavorings (vanilla and cinnamon). I like the texture to be on the thick side as it is, so I don’t mind the missing yogurt. Perhaps you have some yogurt substitution suggestions? Or a post where you’ve already discussed that?

If I leave out the yogurt, I add more chia seeds to thicken it up. But it’s still good with just milk too!

I do it with a mashed banana or a grated apple in place of the yogurt (plus one tbs of chia and some milk) as I find the consistency a bit too thin with just milk and chia. 🙂

I actually love the texture of overnight oats, it’s the temperature that weirds me out. I think my tastebuds get confused! “Oatmeal is supposed to be hot!” Yours always look delicious though!

Why would some of us think texture = F? Sogginess from frozen fruit or overnight oats in general?

I am *addicted* to my OO for breakfast. 🙂 But I actually think of this more as texturized yogurt rather than oatmeal, though, because of the temperature and the fact that this is so much dessert-like (with the fruit and “cream” – aka milk and yogurt). When I explain it like that to people, they seem to be more interested. 🙂

Yeah, I agree. It’s not really an oatmeal so much as a thick, yogurt dish.

I love oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. Usually I do enjoy most textures. But the one time I made OO, it reminded me of cold soggy cereal, and I was disappointed how little I liked it since it’s so convenient. Any tips for OO beginners out there? 🙂
