GIVEAWAY!

How’d you like to win this guy:

Crockpot1

I would!! I love the concept of crockpots but have never owned one. I love “cook in a pot” meals and soups, so I think something that was safe to leave on all day would be really fun 🙂

BlogHer has partnered with Tropicana’s Trop 50, a new orange juice beverage with 50% less cal and 50% less sugar, to form a new site called The Juice, a new online community where women can share and exchange practical advice and tips on how to get more of what they want, and less of what they don’t.

In honor of all-things-practical and handy, The Juice is giving you guys a chance to win this lovely crockpot and cookbook of recipes to use with it.

TO ENTER: Leave a comment with a crock-pot friendly dish you’d want to make first!

My answer>: overnight steal cut oatmeal, of course!

Crockpot2

Here’s a video on meal planning and using a slow cooker, including how to make yogurt and a vegan sweet potato chili.

This contest goes until June 8 – I’ll be picking a random winner then!

Happy Slow Cooking!

I would love to make some barbecue pork chops…they’re so yummy and tender. And the smell…reminds me of when my hubby and I were first married. I would put these in my crock pot from my wedding shower and they smelled soooo good when we got home from work. That’s been almost 30 years ago, so I could use a NEW one! 😉

I would make any type of bean, but pintos are particularly good. Just an onion and some garlic, beans and water. The next day, drain a little, mash with some salt, and you have the best refried beans ever!

I have been dying to make a whole roast chicken in the crockpot but the one I have is too small. I would try that recipe first.

We are big into soups and stews at our house. One favorite is a Potato Leek and Bacon Soup and it is yummy! We are big crockpot cookers in the summer because you can still get a warm meal without heating the house.

Our favorite crock pot treat is simmered apples. We put apples, and cinnamon, and sugar in the crock put overnight. In the morning it is great on pancakes. If it cooks longer we turn it into apple butter and it is great too. The smell in the house is amazing.

I’d have to make a big roast with tons of veggies! Crockpots are so nice for summer … they don’t heat up the kitchen nearly as much as the stove!
