Funky Chicken

I’m feeling kind of funky tonight, and I know that hormones are 100% to blame! I have experienced enough cyclical “out of the norm” moodiness to know that this feeling I get every now and again MUST be hormones. It kind of feels like my nerves are churning!? I’m doing my best to accept my nerves tonight and just relax. It’s tough! I want to do everything and nothing at the same time.

Also, perhaps I’m missing a daily dose of endorphins from lack of sweat!? I’ve been cold all day! Definitely didn’t get to the gym. Instead I took a niceeeee long hot shower 😉

Because of my funky nerves, we decided to scrap our planned dinner and do something super easy involving these beautiful local eggs Karen’s friend Tracy sent through to us!

Do you notice anything out of the ordinary?

Green eggsBlog

I guess someone else was in a funk tonight too 🙂

We made egg sandwiches with a side of kale chips with those green eggs!

With a nice pile of cracklin’ kale!

Betcha can’t guess what I had for dessert!?

sorry about the random hormones and weird-ish feelings. There is a product called Natural Calm (it’s a magnesium supplement) that is great for helping with relaxing the mind/body/spirit, calms nerves, and is my go-to. Most of us are mag depleted b/c of stress, toxins, working out, etc. and this helps to balance me. And is more absorbed by the body unlike most other forms of mag.

    Sorry for the ramblings 🙂

Yay for “Real” eggs! My dad’s hobby is raising chickens (he’s an attorney by day, go figure) and the only time I’d ever had store-bought eggs growing up was at summer camp (and those were probably powdered) and at friends houses. We never had the breed of chickens that lay white eggs (usually White Leghorns), so our eggs were always “funky.”
Now, whenever I got to my parents house I stock up on half a dozen cartons of fresh eggs!

When my kids and I lived in the country I kept some chickens, some of whom laid green eggs. Green eggs come from Ameraucana or Araucana chickens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ameraucana), also called “Easter Egg Hens” because they lay green or blue eggs. In my experience, the shells are also harder, but I don’t know why. I really miss fresh eggs from my own hens, whether they were brown, white OR green! Enjoy!

I got some eggs from a friend with chickens last night. She said that the color of the eggs is due to both which chicken laid them (the type) and the age of the chicken… She said as the chickens get older, the eggs fade, which is kind of funny! Just thought I would pass along what she said.
