Friends + Felines

IMG_0798-2

Tonight we were invited over to our friends Meredith + Garrick’s for dinner! And what a fun surprise – they just became parents to two adorable little kittens!!!

IMG_0797-2

IMG_0793-2

Check out the shelf I can create by pushing out the bump!

IMG_0788

Is it weird that holding these kittens made me really excited to hold my little baby!?

IMG_0801-2

Do we flock to orange cats or what!? Even Mr. Allergic couldn’t resist holding them at arm’s reach : )

Mattcat

Sweet kitty mewing:

And a hilarious clip of Cubby playing with the plant!

Meredith + Garrick just re-did their kitchen and cooked up quite the impressive dinner –

Homemade mussels in a cream sauce

IMG_0807

A gorgeous chicken and pasta bake

IMG_0809

And a green salad!

IMG_0810

Totally delicious!

IMG_0812-2dinner-3

And for dessert….a special cheesecake from our new pastry bakery in town! Matt and I shared this honkin’ slice.

It’s from here: http://www.howsweeteats.com/2011/05/creamy-caprese-pasta/ I’ve been making it for a while and it’s delish. Although I add more sauce and mozzarella, ~1 jar for the whole recipe and 8 oz mozz for the inside and 8 oz for the top!

I thought that you had said Matt was allergic to cats. We currently don’t have any pets and our kids are 5 and 6, although they have a few ideas about what kind of pet they would like… dalmation, fish, snake, rabbit just to name a few. We had both a dog and a cat at one point, the cat died before kids and our beagle died about 3 years ago. I grew up in the country with outside animals, so indoor pets and the hair and other messes were hard for me to get used to. Having neighbor cats to plus with sounds like it works perfectly for you right now.
