found.

What was lost?

3 months

121 episode’s worth of time

Nearly 100 hours of wonderful entertainment

What was found?

A personal experience unlike any other. Call me melodramatic, but that show was life changing! Not so much in a “I’m going to live my life differently” way, but in a “I will never forget that” way. It was almost like I was on The Island too.

I have to let the finale completely sink in before I write about it (and I promise to do so in a closed space so I don’t spoil the show for any of you – because I KNOW you are all going to start watching, right!? It’s all on Netflix!) But in general, the ending was satisfying and an appropriate way to end such an adventure. I wasn’t let down. (But I do still have lots of questions to sort through! The internet will have answers…)

IMG_9231-2Blog

We invited Jacob Hillary over for dinner so she could enjoy the finale with us.

A formal invitation was sent…

LOST invite

She arrived with a pineapple!

We made pizza and salad as promised

IMG_9236-2Blog

Matt style with 50% whole wheat crust (I’ve been egging him to get back to 100% WW!) with cheddar, peppers, mushrooms, and tomato mash for sauce [simply fresh tomato sautéed in a pan to make into a sauce – easier than opening a runny jar and only using a quarter cup!]

IMG_9240-3Blog

Plus a side salad with goat cheese and the pineapple!

IMG_9241-3Blog

More on the side for island snacking

IMG_9245-2Blog

Enjoyed in front of the show, of course

IMG_9242-2Blog

And that special dessert? Jeni’s ice cream!

IMG_9246-2Blog

I only regret using a mug because my tongue could not lick the last drops out! This is the best ice cream flavor in the whole wide world, islands included.

IMG_9248-3Blog

Goodnight.

Oh, and I totally get the “my life is changed by this show-watching experience”. I’ve felt that way about one TV series before too. Still think back to those days and episodes and reflect on how they were indeed good times.

I have tried Lost a couple of times and never made it past the first season. I think that has more to do with my attention span then the show, though. Maybe someday I’ll finally see the light and join the Lost addicts club.

But for now I have to find some carmel ice cream. That looks so good!

My best friend and I spent every Tuesday night glued to the TV and I remember being so sad when the show ended. I still listen to the music on youtube and get a little nostalgic. Nothing has compared since! I am a total Lostie, but I think it will be a long while before I can watch it again, if ever. I don’t think it would have the same magic the second time around.

I just had jeni’s for the first time last weekend in Columbus. Not only is their ice cream delicious, but the milk they use to make it is awesome. I had a chance to meet the owner of Snowville Creamery two years ago at an Ohio based organic farming convention and love his practices. Their milk taste so much better than others I knew this ice cream was going to be amazing.

My husband and I absolutely loved LOST–we starting watching it while we were still dating (when it was playing real time on TV) and lost (ha!) the fire during the writers’ strike (season 5, I think?) and the looong breaks in between episodes. We got engaged, married, moved, blah blah blah, then started over from season 1 and finished the whole thing. It is so easy to get obsessed but now any time we have a rainy day I get LOST nostalgia! We definitely are going to own the entire show, because I think we’ll definitely rewatch it all every ten years or so 🙂

LOST was SUCH a compelling show. Husband and I couldn’t bear to miss it when it was on, even when we thought a particular plot thread had wandered off somewhere we didn’t like! After every episode we had to sit and talk about it instead of just changing to something else. So glad you got to experience it too.

I thought it “lost” (ha) its way a bit towards the end, but I can’t say the finale left me unsatisfied–just a bit confused. But I guess that’s ok. Some questions are best left unanswered.

Hey Kath! First time on here replying, just found your blog a week or so ago through a friend. Really enjoying it!!! I too am pregnant (11 weeks…with my third). So fun, but the morning (all day) sickness is doing one over on me. I love reading about what you eat while pregnant (and maybe you eat the same not pregnant??) as it gives me ideas on what might go down well that day. Most food repulses me at the moment but if I’m not constantly eating, I feel sick. Such an oxymoron. Quick question. I’ve noticed you put a lot of cheddar cheese on things when something calls for cheese. Just curious why you choose that type and if it has some wonderful healthy properties I don’t know about. I also love that you put goat’s cheese on loads of things too – one of my favorites!

      Hey Cindy!
Congrats on your pregnancy! I’m so sorry to hear you are sick because I was also really sick from weeks 6 to about 14. I ended up taking Unisom + Vitamin B6 that was a lifesaver, but I still had tons of food aversions and on-and-off nausea. [I’m guessing you’ve found my baby blog (http://www.babykerf.com/) but there’s the link if not).

I eat sharp cheddar because it’s my favorite cheese and is pretty inexpensive at Whole Foods. So versatile too. Good source of protein + calcium!
